Morse Code

I have an rekindled interest yesterday night, as i was bored, restless, sian, surfing the website and chatting aimlessly.

It all started when my friend message me something like this : .-....-.--..-..-....-...---

I reminds me of something, seeing all the dots and dashes.

Yes, its morse code. It is defined as:
Either of two codes used for transmitting messages in which letters of the alphabet and numbers are represented by various sequences of dots and dashes or short and long signals.

And yes, Morse code is international, meaning a lot of ppl knows it around the world. Its a means to transmit in terms of light, sound, of the letters you want the other party to know about. In terms of distress, a simple ... --- ... (SOS) is enough to alert the whole world and scrambled all the search and rescue resources internationally for a mission.

A word of caution. A SOS is serious. It should not be used as a prank. For example, if you are on a boat, and you jokingly broadcast a SOS signal or just use the word mayday 3 times, its enough to activate the MPA, PCG, Navy, and all other private boats, commerial boats to your area. In short, don't cry wolf when there's no wolf.

You may ask " Why is it still a code when everyone knows about it?" Well, if this question really comes into your mind, i would suggest you to watch this movie, "INDEPENDENT DAY".

The movie is about aliens who is invading our earth, and the US manage to find a way to defeat those shields that protect the UFOs from our bullets, missiles and even nuclear missile. US then organise a massive aramade of aircraft to fight back, and this involves co-ordination of the attacks with all countries.

And the aliens had control of our signals, and could read the US boardcast, (different countries has different military codes), so, the US uses the international morse code, understood by all mankind, and non-understandable for aliens.

See?? the usefullness of morse code.
