Chinatown Lightup 2009

New Year 2009, has barely gotten off, the new year mood is still there, when another "force" came, to give the people another mood to celebrate.

Yeap. It's the mood that most unmarried people look forward to, and most married couples dreaded, while the banks and the Singapore Treasury has gotten real busy, and lots Singaporeans suddenly become entrepreneurs by selling snacks.

Sounds familiar? Yes, it's the Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year.

The festive season where unmarried persons will rush in glee to married cousins, brothers, friends, and sometime strangers with the words "Gong Xi Fai Cai, Hong Bao Na Lai"...

Sometimes, to me, the greetings "Gong Xi Fai Cai" is meant for the unmarried folks, and not the unfortunate married couples.

I was at the Chinatown last Sat for the CNY light up. Here's the photos.

Just look at the crowd turnout... WOW...

And yet more people...

People Mountain People Sea

And there we are, at one nice quiet corner, smelling the Bak Gua smell from the Bak Gua Shop just beside us, and we can only drool, and look in envy at the people queuing up to buy and eat the delicious Bak Gua...

Hopefully, during the countdown, some kind soul will take pity on us and buy us some Bak Gua to munch on while we are on duty.

It was announced in the news that the CNY festive celebrations budget has been cut by 20%. What does that mean??

Well, it means there's super lot of lion dances...

There got the red lions... Nope, i dun mean the Singapore Army Parachute Team...

Got the Blue Lions...

The Gold Lions...

The purple lions...

The orange lions...

And that's not all... There's lots dragons also!!

And not to forget, the figurines...

Cute little girls...

Free flow of beer...

And of course, who can forget everyone's favourite...

Opps... wrong photo...

Here's the correct one... Presenting everyone's favourite...

GOD OF FORTUNE!!!

or is it

GOD OF WEALTH??

No matter what, it's everyone's favourite...

Yep. Sometimes, i wonder if other deities will be jealous of that fellow or not.. he's getting all the attention...
