Overnight BBQ
And straight after the chalet, was the zone BBQ.
Another sleepless night...
And it rained right after i had started the fire... Grrr...
So, we had "indoor" BBQ, under the shelter...
Yummy food!!!
And the hungry ppl!!!
Having a good time!!
Our entertainer for the night...
2 pretty ladies...
Actually, there's one more photo of a pretty lady, but she insisted that i delete her photo from my camera, after i took a suprise snapshot at her. And we came to a compromise. I promised that i do not publish her photo. So... too bad for you, readers...
Cooking!! Who says guys cannot cook?
After the rain, the skies cleared, and here are some ppl, looking at the stars in the middle of the road...
And HS, my shifu (master) came, while i was struggling with my camera to take some good photos... Taught me a few tricks, and i was practising away, snapping photos at a chosen model...
Before HS came, the photos are like this...
And after he came and gave me some tips, the photos became like this...
See the difference?
And happily snapping away...
And vkp, prove to me that he has multi faces...
Cute...
Threatening...
Hardworking...
Hmmm... Spend the whole night dunno doing what... just slacking and rotting away...
And soon, dawn came. Daybreak. The sights are beautiful!!

Books that make me cry
Today, is the last day of 2007...
Somehow, i feel a bit sad about the new year... I don't really know why...
Perhaps its that i had not made any significant achievements in that one year.. Perhaps its that i am getting an year older... Perhaps its that i need time to adjust to write the new year when write dates, Perhaps its ........
I can think of a hundred and one reasons to feel sad about the progress of time...
These few days was supposed to be relaxing for me, with a chalet and a BBQ... But somehow, it got very tiring trying to relax.
EC relaxing at the chalet...
One. DT gave me a belated Christmas present.
Yes... It's a book. Titled "In the company of heroes" by Micheal J. Durant with Steven Hartov...
Does the name Micheal J. Durant sounds familiar to you?
Yes. He's the Blackhawk, Super Six Four pilot that was captured and made prisoner at the Somalia conflict, made famous by the movie, "Blackhawk Down".
The book tells about his 11 days in captivity, and his biography. How he was beaten, to being treated nicely during his stint as a prisoner, in a hostile city full of folks wanting to kill him.
At the last part, while reading a letter from a wife of a Delta soldier who died trying to save him, I cried. It was so touching...
Some extracts from the letter goes something like this...
"When i thanked you for giving Randy's death a purpose I meant it. It is not meant to detract from the bravery or heroism of the others that died, however, I can look at you and talk to you and see that his efforts were not in vain..."
"I want you to know that because of your bravery and refusal to give up while captured I can sleep at night. Your refusal to be defected and give up was as brave an act as Randy's..."
"I can live with the fact of knowing he died to save another man rather than had he died from a random bullet shot from a hidden source. If you knew Randy you would know that he was a very quiet and unselfish man. He always put others first and therefore it is fitting and appropriate that he died the way he did. Randy truly loved what he did and had God given him the choice of how to die I know in my heart he would have chosen to go down just as he did. I also know that had Randy been injured in a helicopter you would have piloted a helicopter in to save him no matter how dangerous the situation was..."
"I don't ever want you to question why you lived and Randy and the others with you did not. You lived to come back and give me some peace of mind to what would have been an otherwise unexplainable situation..."
"Just as Randy fought to save you, you fought and did not give up, perhaps not knowing you were fighting to save me... from a tortured mind and heart..."
I really was in tears when i read those sentences.
And yes. I finished the whole book in a single night.

Too fast, too furious, Singapore Drift is coming... April 2008.
Wee Woo Wee!!!
And hopefully, normal Singapore drivers will not become drifters...

Achievements in 2007
One of my achievements in 2007...
Bought a A-10 warthog model plane from a hobby shop at Vivo city, when i was doing a duty there...
And here's the "almost" complete plane, without the armaments. (i need to purchase paints to paint the missiles, and the guns).
Here's more pictures...
Kinda re-lighted my interest in modelling hobbies.

New Year Resolutions
2008 is coming. In fact, as i am typing right now, it's 4 days, 10 hours and 31 minutes to 2008...
I don't know why, but when the end of the year is over, i feel a tinge of sadness. It's like almost unbearable for that year to leave.
Maybe, it's knowing that once the year left, it would never ever come back. It's gone. It's history. And what's left is memories, be it sweet or bitter.
And now is a good time for reflections. What had i achieved for 2007? Besides my new car, i had achieved nothing. I am still stagnent. No progress. It's like i am living my life boringly. That means, i had wasted another year...
And lots people are starting to make New Year Resolutions.

My new year resolutions are always the same almost every year...
1) To stick to my very first new year resolution.
Which is??
Errrrr...... Hmmmm.....
Opps.. I had forgotten what is my first New Year Resolution...
-.-

Christmas party at Orchard
Christmas had came and gone...
Somehow, this christmas is different. It feels different, it seems different. Don't get me wrong... It's the same christmas, but to me, it is different.
So many things had happened... Indeed too many things, none of them giving me a reason to smile and to celebrate christmas.
Went for the countdown celebration for duty at orchard, an another duty at the same place less than 24 hours later. Got to see some really wild party animals that blocked up the whole orchard road.
How crowded it is?? let you see some photos...
Yep.. it's that crowded... I would never be in that crowd. I hate crowds...
There's lots of people spraying snow spray. I bet those people who are selling snow spray have lots reason to laugh for this festive season.
In fact, when the countdown goes to zero, this is what happened...
OMG!!!
Wanna know what's the aftermath?
Even kids are covered with the foam...
Me? i was spared. Coz we were standing at the "stage" where the performers are...
Yeah!
===============================================
Less than 24 hours later, we were back at the same place. Orchard Road.
It's a stage performance, right in the middle of the road. And we were stationed quite far away, and someone needs extra help in looking at the stage...
It was uneventful, except for a stupid drunk who chose to lie down at a taxi stand, and the funny thing is that there's lots civilians, and no one made a report. It's the Aetos officers who spotted him, and activated us.
We did an accessment, and handed it back to the Aetos, coz he's just a stupid drunk.
Met quite a number of "undercover" first aiders there. AP and her cousin, the duty siaos who is there for the sights, another YTSS SJAB ex-member, some officers from other zones.
GQ was the most wild. Lie right in the middle of the road.
And suddenly he turned calmed...
A couple of photographs taken with the ppl there...
And i got the lucky chance to take a couple photos with a couple pretty ladies...
Quite an uneventful duty, with lots things on my mind.
One thing funny is that whenever i tried to take a photo with GL, there's always another pair of eyes that popped out of nowhere...
eerie...

Demise of Mr Stephen Khit
Demise of Mr Stephen Khit.
I remembered him as a friendly, happy go lucky person, who did not hestitate to answer my queries, especially when it comes to uniform queries.
Our former Zone Commissioner, i was not around when he was holding that appointment. I did not have the luck to work with him, but the way he runs the St John Store, he must be a good Commissioner.
The quality of the SJAB uniform accessories are extremely good quality. He will never nod to goods below his standard, and the uniform accessories i had bought more than 5 years ago are still serving me fine.
May you rest in peace, Mr Stephen Khit.
It's SJAB's loss of another great man.

Poor Rudolph, the reindeer
Poor Rudolph, the reindeer...
This season, he will be out of a job... Santa might not need his bright shiny red nose to light up the way for his sled...
Why leh??
Mars glows, no need for Rudolph's nose
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071220/ap_on_sc/mars_rudolph
Poor Reindeer... Rest this year and prepare for next year...
Meanwhile, with the raising energy cost, why not come to my home and light it up? Can save on electricity...
For the others, keep a lookout for the bright Mars and the full moon!!
To the Air Forces around the world:
Do ensure that the blips on the radar and the bogeys are not santa and his sled before engaging them, when they enter your air space... They are not terrorists!!!

Chalet
A chalet just passed.
Been ages since i went to a chalet, and stay overnight...
And been ages since it was so fun at a chalet...
We were so high, and laughing so much!!! Almost went into the "bonkers" zone...
Not to forget, non-stop mahjong!!
I learned a new word.. "Tau Pok"... Wanna know the meaning?? then, refer to the photo below...
It's to pin one down using multiple human bodies stacking on top of one another, followed bt dragging that poor unfortunate soul out into the balcony and being locked out. And everytime someone screams "tau pok", , all would start screaming and stacking...
And SL almost got it everytime...
And there's never ending supply of chocolate.. from a chocolate fountain... Yummy!!
And HP's pet toy, umiko, was the most hungry among all of us... where there's food, there's umiko.
And when we finished cooking a pot of soup, there's umiko, with a spoon, standing by...
Umiko : "please, can i have some more??"
Second night. Steamboat night. Guess who's the first one at the table??
Me :" I am hungry"
And soon, everyone started crowding at the table for some homemade steamboat. It's yummy!!
But not all are fun. There are other moments too... Like these...
King of gamblers?? No wonder i always lose...
Sleepy?
Annoyed??
Lonely??
and crazy??
But the ladies always want the most group photographs... Here goes...
Thanks for organising the chalet, ladies!!

One thing about this chalet... never ran out of food... First night.. we had sushi (made by the 4 ladies that is organising the chalet, CO, ET, SL and Ros).
And there's never ending supply of chocolate.. from a chocolate fountain... Yummy!!

Where's umiko? Hmmm... Hidden somewhere so that she cannot see us eat.. hahaha...
Spend a few hours in the middle of the night at the Pasir Ris Park playground, where the girls really had a whale of time imidiating hamsters in a treadmill, rolling, swinging, while SL finally learnt how to ride a bicycle.
It was really, looking at their laughing faces...
But not all are fun. There are other moments too... Like these...
