What does the NDP mass display means for Mr Brown
Short talk:
Thanks for the concerns and well wishes from Sophia, Crystal and qz. Feeling better today, but still a bit "lost" and extremely sleepy.
===================================================
This is a good one on http://www.mrbrown.com/
He was writing about the NDP 2007 celebrations at Marina Bay.
====================================================
Boundless Flight: representing the swift migration of the top talents of Singapore, who leave for other countries, never to come back.
Then there was the Riot Police vehicles rolling in, disgorging riot cops. That just freaked me out even more. Again, I should have had the sound on, but my head went, "This is what we can do to you if you protest on the streets. We have the power to kick your ass so hard, you will think twice about protesting at all."
The mass Taichi display made me think, "This represents the taichi attitude of Singaporeans. Not my department, *taichi*not my problem, *taichi* not my fault, *taichi*"
The radio-controlled butterfly kites segment looked cool, but seeing these high tech kites made me say out loud, "This is the gahmen telling you to fly a kite. Don't like our decisions? Go fly a kite. Don't like the GST hike? Go fly a kite. Don't like the ministerial pay hike? Go fly a kite."
=================================================
Is this what iss going on in your mind when you are watching the parade?
Me? Nope. I was too busy eating the Buffet dinner provided by the SCDF, eating pizzahut, and trying to stay awake on that day.

NDP celebrations (Part III, The post celebration)
The movie which i wanted to watch. Badly.
The Bourne Ultimatum.

The movie was cool, but it's kinda too predictable, but overall, Jason Bourne as per normal, did what he knows best.

But one thing that bothers me. In that show, Jason Bourne was seen travelling around and around... To different countries. By air, sea and land. How he got money for all his expense?? He's ain't working right?

But as the story goes, it just keeps getting better.
NDP celebrations (Part II, the celebrations)
We had a picnic at our HQ. Free food!! Pizzahut!!!
Seriously, for this year NDP, i am not sick of the pizzahut's sponsered pizza, in fact, i grew to like it more!!!
But there's ain't such thing as a free lunch, or rather picnic. Those pizzas comes with a price.
Yes. Washing ambulances. all the 3 big ambulances. Almost the whole ambulance.
From Interior......
To exterior
From the top......
To the bottom.
From the front.....
To the back.
From the engine.....
And the windscreen.
To the tyres.....
All of us did it.
And after the work, its play time, or rather, feast time!!
Our poor belated birthday boy....
Basically, though it's siong, especially the thousand-year strains on the top of the ambulances, had a hard time clearing it off, it's fun, especially with the whole gang.
We spend time talking cock, telling jokes and playing police and thief.
Oh shit... both of us got shot. HW shot me and i shot him back..... with my camera...
And at night, when everythings over, 500,000 liters of water and 260,000 packets of food packs, few months of preparation, rehersals, it's finally over. YES, IT'S FINALLY OVER!!!
A wonderful day.
NDP celebrations (Part I, The pre celebrations)
And with it, pass the "exciting events" that consists of 3 duties, countdown, and a movie outing. All stretched from the 08/08/2007 to the wee hours on the 10/08/2007.
Duty at East Coast Park.
The Sun, The sand, The sea and lots of people.....
It's a biathlon, telematch, R&R events of a company. One of the employee, also our liaison, is DC.
JH giving the deployment briefing, while the rest looks on.
And there's nothing in the beginning. I got bored, took out my camera, and start snapping away.
The crashing waves. One can "capture" the amount of energy from those waves for our usage. Save the enviroment somemore...
It's ain't a very good weather...
A bird walking on the beach, looking for something to eat, ignoring the onrushing waves...
East Coast Park was crowded. There are people playing soccer, and a poor lady got "hit" by the ball twice in the same minute.
There are some people learning how to rollerblade there. I gave a lady some encouraging words.
And to most of them, it's a beautiful afternoon to camp there, hang out with their friends, and some chose to spend quality time with their family.
A happy boy plays with his bubble making machine, with his father, while the mother snaps a picture.
And the members, while bored, are making heart shapes from strips of paper!!
Who are they making for?? I wonder...
And when everything comes nearly to an end, and we are happily munching away on our dinner, we had a case, which was sent to the hospital, after which, we were given instructions to return to base!!!
And i left the group to go back to my neighbourhood area. I got an event, whereby AF and Viper flew their kites (and shot down one time each, thanks to those si gi na (little boys and girls), who have absoluting no brains at all.) after the countdown to mark the National Day at a Community Club's event.
And it's time to go for another duty at Siloso Beach, Sentosa. A beach party, where you got to see bikini babes, and musculur hunks, but i prefer to take a nap instead.
Everyone's prefer to dance at the main stage area, rather than buying makan, and drinks....
A very boring duty, and in fact, this is a last minute duty, that had went un-noticed. A overnight party.

NDP Preview
And the past show, (preview), we got the best food so far in the history of NDP 2007. It's from Pizzahut.

Each pack contains a slice of pizza, 2 pcs of garlic bread, and 3 pcs of chicken wings.
And it rocks!!! Even when it's cold. Especially the chicken wings.... it's yummy!
And the pizza was not guarded. It's left in the box and i had 2 helpings. THanks to Sars. I am not the only one ransacking the box. The SAF (always hungry ones) also ransack the boxes.

NDP food and water
By Valarie Tan, Channel NewsAsia Posted: 26 July 2007 2300 hrs
"SINGAPORE: Half a million litres of water and 260,000 food-packs – that is the total amount expected to be consumed by performers and participants at this year's National Day Parade (NDP).
About four million snacks and drinks have to be picked up and delivered to feed some 7,000 participants at four different places, including Suntec City Convention Centre."
I wonder how many people got the disease "KFC phobia" when this event ends. Me so far so good. Have not consumed any KFC chicken yet, and trying not to.
Ever since i first went to NDP (being forced) in mobile colume in 2000, i've been suffering from that illness every year, except 2002, the only year i was not involved. (Cos i went for National Camp instead, and thank god there's ain't KFC over there)

NE show 2

And for me, this is the first time i am at Marina Bay and not Marina South. So, it's kinda eye-opener for me to see the rehersal again with 27,000 little kids.

And those kids are frisky. They scream at their top of their voices, shouted till they are hoarse, waved thir clappers, flags non-stop, dismantling their goodie bags, and trying to put them back together, (their arms must be aching now), and they are scared of the 21-gun salute.

What happens when the arty (21-pounder guns) are firing? Soldiers will drop flat on the ground, while the kids will just cover their ears.
Good to see the kids and their teachers having a good time.
When you see the whole brunch screaming, laughing, waving their little flags, you just can't help smiling to yourself.
But as the time goes on, we do get tired, and occasionally, when time permits, we do take a tiny weeny little nap.

Even though it's not comfortable at all.
And we all gets tired, especially when the event ends.
And surely, nothing beats the greatest joy of going back after the clearance to stand-down has been given.
I arrived home a very tired man.

NDP NE Show 1

Couldn't be more boring. Parked at the trailer park at Marina south. A place where "dog does not shit, birds does not lay eggs" place. (Meaning its very deserted and isolated place).
And when NDP comes, those who went for NDP before should have memories about the food. Every year it's sponser by KFC and Pizza Hut. To those, you may think what delicious food we have, but to those who had went through it before, after each year, we do have phobia of eating KFC and Pizza!
The meals arrived soon after we arrived. We looked at it with tepidation. but surprised!! its this...
It's by SFI (Singapore Food Industrials). The best meal sponser of it all!!! Though it looks plain, but it's yummy!
Pretty soon, its night time.
It's dark. The street lamps are not switched on at the trailer park.
We were outside, feeding mosquitos. Waiting for the fireworks to start. And we were not waited in vain.
