TP Rockamania 2008

=============================================
Short talk:

Did not have enough sleep for the last weekend... Really suffering from Monday Blues. Having a headache now...
=============================================

Why would people want to climb a rock wall??

Is it because the staircases are locked?

Nope... It's the time of the year, Rockamania 2008, organised by Temasek Polytechnic (TP, not Traffic Police hor)...

This year's scale was much better than last year's... The crowd's more, the competition was harder (as observed by the blogger) and the event was much more successful.

Just look at the crowd!

Rockclimbing is a sport which i totally cannot take part in... I don't want the wall to collaspe on me, and the other reason is that rock climbing requires you to have a super duper fingers and toes strenght, super duper flexible body in order to do these stunts...

The only time my legs are higher than my head is when i am suffering from shock or when i am sleeping in the "kiao ka" position...

I cannot imagine myself doing that, hanging horizontally, legs higher than my head...

If you noticed, this fellow is hanging on with one hand, while trying to reach another handhold with his other hand.. If i were to do that, i would have prob dislocate my shoulder, tore every tendon and ligament in my arm...

Doing stretching exercises while climbing??

Given my short (and fat) nature, i could not simply stretch that long to reach for the handhold...

Must salute to those climbers who do process the strenght, and endurance and "never-say-die" attitude in the greatest effort to reach the top.

And most could not reach the top, and had to fall...

But kudos to those who reached the top!! Well done!!

And pretty soon, we were bored...

KS was not bored... he was tired... I am the one who is bored by taking this picture...

Ahhh.. we were bored...

And these are what the organising committee did when they are bored...

Playing one of our childhood games.. "PEPSI COLA 123"... I used to play that in my primary school days...

Posing for photos...

And this is what the supporters did to the contestants when they did not do well...

They carry him to the rubbish bin and dump him in...

That was a joke... Laugh...

Nah... i supposed they were bored also...

And interestingly, when i met up with my friends later that night after the rockamania finals, he was wearing this shirt...

Article on STOMP

OMG!!! DO you believe such things can happen in Singapore?? Such ppl does exist??

==============================================
Why clinic refused to sell medication without seeing my son? So money-minded!"
Posted on 03 Jul, 2008 10:34
http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen/viewContent.jsp?id=27253

A STOMPer said a clinic refused to sell medication for his son who was having a high fever without seeing him first, even though the same medication had been prescribed by a doctor from another clinic.

He said:

"My son had a 40.4 Celsius fever and when I called up his paediatrician, I was told to give him Veron and Bifen to bring down his fever.

"The paediatrician's advice was to get his fever under control for the night and bring him into the clinic in the morning.

"Because these 2 medication that I keep at home has expired, I was advised to get them from any nearby family clinic.

"As it was raining and my feverish son was still sleeping, I went to a clinic in Woodlands. When I asked to purchase the medications, the clinic assistant said that I have to bring my son to the clinic before any medication can be prescribed.

"When I asked why, the clinic assistant said 'it is our law and regulation.'

"That's it?? She didn't even ASK the doctor knowing that my son is burning at above 40 degrees Celsius.

"Would any parent with a burning kid take that as an answer? Thinking that she probably doesn't have a child of her own, I asked another lady for help.

"The answer I get this time is that if the child has never been prescribed with this medication before from the clinic, they can sell it to me without seeing the child. That means that they have it, but refuse to sell it.

"It was raining, I don't drive and to bring him over to the clinic I have to carry him in the rain and walk 500 metres. Would any parent bring a feverish child out into the rain?

"In the end, I decided to bring him to the hospital instead."I can't help but wonder why clinics are becoming so money minded.

"Despite being told that the advice came from the paediatrician, they still insisted that the child be brought over. Then what?

"Give the same kind of medication just because they have seen the suffering child?

"What if a patient is too weak to go over to the clinic? Doesn't the doctor at the clinic even think of it? I told the clinic that I am not holding them accountable or responsible but that rude clinical assistant started to raise her voice 'our law, our policy, our reputation'.

"WHAT THE?....?? She didn't even wanted to listen when I tried to explained that my son had ever had fits before when his fever was above 40 degrees Celsius. She kept on saying in her raised voice 'our law, our policy, our reputation'.

"For an extra $30 consultation fee that a doctor can earn, a doctor can refuse to sell medication that can help someone who is in need of help.

"The expired medication that I had with me was issued by a competitor clinic at the same location (in fact it's just the next shop) that happened to be closed.

"It doesn't make sense why a clinic cannot issue the same type of medicine that another doctor issued, and was also advised by a paediatrician from a renowned hospital to buy from a family clinic to control the fever.

"Though the situation was explained CLEARLY, the answer is still NO. What does that lead me as a parent to think? 'MONEY MINDED DOCTOR at work'."

OMG!!! I still cannot believe such ppl exist... and you all out there should know who that ppl i am refering to...

Politics tactics

=============================================
Short talk:

I am wondering if there's any recorded medical case of people dying of being too busy, not stress...

That's what i am suffering from now...
=============================================

I realised one thing...

Singapore and Malaysia, afterall, ain't that so much difference after all!! I mean, in terms of politics, Singapore and Malaysia use common tactics but on the different subjects against the opposition.

Both use the law against the opposition.

One uses deframation tactics, while the other uses sodomy.

WOW!!!

NFAHNC 2008

This post is dedicated to the 10 girls whom i spend a whole sunday with...

I know time is running short, and we are trying to push as much knowledge and skills, sometimes, overflowing your minds, to you.

We know you have endured the tough trainings, the scoldings, the naggings, and the reasonings from all of us.

We may curse and swear during the trainings, but we hoped that the effort we put in are not in vain. Hope that you all had things to think about, to change your mindset, and perform well in the competition.

And you all really deserves a round of applause from us for putting in so much effort on sunday.

Well done, girls...

JIA YOU!!

Wrong ammo used.. OMG!!

OMG!!!

How can something like this happen??

17 injured as French troops use live ammo in visitors' day display

CARCASSONNE, France: Seventeen people, including a child left in a critical condition, were injured on Sunday when French soldiers fired live bullets instead of blanks during a visitors' day display, regional officials told AFP

Fifteen civilians and two soldiers were injured in the incident, of which the details remained unclear late Sunday, involving a demonstration by members of a marines parachute regiment of a hostage liberation exercise, the regional authority said.

What had happened?? Counterterror soldiers become terrorist?

Imagine the terror of the public when they saw the others getting hits by live ammo.

Back to school??

It seems like i am back to school, studying...

The long lost feeling, which felt so good... Studying days...

Recently, i have been thrusted into a research project tasked by my boss, and here i am, going headlong, chionging straight into it, on top of my other duties in office.

It's 2030 hours now, and i am still in office, searching for more information, and it's feels so good to realised a major dispute in the reports of the journals, and searching for more information on that matter.

Seems like i am back to my Uni days, which i took part time, working and doing my research projects.

At least, i am doing one of the things which i always wanted.. To be a researcher... And i don't even have a MSc or a PhD...

Ahhhh... that long lost feeling... The headaches, the eyes sore, the lack of sleep etc...

And i am having a headache now..

So much journals to read through...

So much information to digest...

So much important points to take note and remember...

And yet...

It's so little information to work on...

I am going to be a very busy man...

Points to ponder

Something i read in the Talkingcock.com website, and they did raise a few issues that's worth pondering and some crappy jokes as well...

From:
http://www.talkingcock.com/html/article.php?sid=2590&mode=thread&order=0

Worth pondering...
1) How come the fridge inside got light, but the freezer dun have?

2) Why do fat chance and slim chance mean the same thing?

3) Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?

4) Why did you just try singing the two songs above?

Additional from me...
5) Why you cannot lick your own elbow?

6) Why did you just try licking your own elbow?

Singapore jokes
1) Will we kena cancer after passing under so many ERP gantries?

2) How come Ngee Ann Polytechnic is NP, but Nanyang Polytechnic is NYP?'

3) Why do we kill people for killing people to show that killing people is wrong, and yet we say we are doing right when we kill them?

4) How come we’re scared that offering ordinary people more money will make them not want to work, but giving millionaire ministers a fat pay rise gives them the incentive to work?

Hit and run fatal accident

Oh shit...

I am involved in a hit and run accident... It's fatal accident, i think... I did not stop and check on the casualty.

The first accident i got into with my new ride...

Damm...

That fellow was standing in the middle of a deserted road in Lim Chu Kang, undecided which direction to go to, and i was approaching that poor victim.

I slowed down and horn that fellow once.

And that idiot was still standing in the middle of the road, obviously undecided what to do.

And all the while, i was still moving forward...

At last, when that idiot wanted to move away from this hugh monster with 4 wheels, it was too late...

I heard the awful sound of machine hitting flesh, and i saw that poor idiot being tossed away.

I sped on... I did not stop at all.

And when i returned to the scene of the accident later, i could not find the body. All i can find is this... another poor soul of a hit and run fatal accident...

Damm... this is the second time i got into a hit and run fatal (i guess so) accident... And both casualties are the same...

The first time, the idiot flew into my van, head on. I guess that bird was trying to find out which is harder, my van or his head.

Poor birds...

Being Frustrated

Having lots thoughts recently.

Having lots reading up of research papers recently.

Having lots revision of poly text's recently.

Having lots work to be done recently.

Having lots clearing up at my office desk recently.

Having lots duties recently.

Having lots decisions to make recently.

Having lots pissed off moments with my internet service provider recently.

Having lots trainings recently.

Having lots deep thinking talks recently.

In other words, i have been very busy recently...

Should i revert back? Or should i remain?

Should i be hard hearted? Or should i close one eye?

Should i carry on ignoring? Or should i start wacking?

There are many ways to get the things done. The hard way, the soft way, the good way, the bad way.

If all does not work, then what's next?

I don't own you anything. I gave you chances, you did not change. I taught you, told you, spoonfeed you, you did not change. I scold you, you started crying, but you did not change.

I tell you, you never listen
You listen, also dun understand
You understand, also never do
You do, also cannot do well.

As much as I hate to do it, there's a need for me to do it.

Damm you for putting me in such a position.

NDP 2008 - 21/06/08

NDP around the corner.

People getting busy with the plannings, preparations, trainings, rehersals, packing...

The public getting inconvienced with the side-effects of the NDP, road closures, lots green uniform at a popular shopping center, babies crying at the sound of airplanes doing their trainings,( http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen/viewContent.jsp?id=25710) etc...

And the participants of NDP must be getting phobia of the "you know what"...

But, after all, it's the NDP, and it's this country's biggest celebrations in the whole year.

Here's some photos which vkp took. Enjoy!!

The respected fellows who have the guts to jump out of a perfectly working fine aircraft.

"Landing in progress." Did the servicemen check for FOD on the runway?

SPF, SCDF and SAF showing how to carry a pillon who is suffering from piles... Or being caned too much.

And on the far right of the photo, how can a motorcyclist carry more passengers than a normal saloon car...

SJAB contingent marching in.. (Singing) "Oh when the saint (john), go marching in, oh when the saint (john) goes marching in, I want to be among their number..."

The colour party!!

Will upload more photos as time goes by!!

Stay tuned!!

More ERPs, Charges goes up

ERP rates in CBD to go up, 5 new gantries added
By Asha Popatlal, Channel NewsAsia Posted: 17 June 2008 1925 hrs

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/354705/1/.html
Sian 1/2...

Traffic in the CBD is slowing down, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA). So in January, as part of its Master Plan, the LTA came up with a new way to measure speed.

It is called the 85th percentile method - this is when motorists experience smooth traffic at least 85 percent of the time on roads that have ERP gantries.

So, new methods to find an excuse to raise ERP charges and to install more gantries? So, when it's more smooth, what new formula will LTA devise to find more excuse to raise the charges and to build more ERP?

ERPs are just like crude oil... It only keeps getting up...

Happy Birthday AM!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AARON!!!

How time flies... One year ago, you ROM-ed and celebrate your birthday at the same time... One year had passed...

The happy birthday boy and the birthday cake...

With the candle lit...

Wish making...

Blowing the candle... That's when the real fun starts!!

Level 1 sabotage, Biting the candle out... (yep, i know that's old school)

Why there's no cream on the cake?!?!?!

Level 2, The many fingers...

And finally (drum rolls).....

LEVEL 3, THE EXTREME MAKEOVER!!!

And the outcome is what AM would look like 30 years down the road!!

Now, ain't that's extreme makeover?? Chope... That's reverse extreme makeover... Most ppl does makeover to look younger... this is the reverse...

Next few photos... Group photos.

AM and his wife...

What the hell am i looking at??

Getting mischievious...

For the next photo, kids, do not do what i did at home, espeically in front of your parents, in school, especially in front of your teachers, discipline master/mistress and your principal, in front of any bullies or gangs...

If you did that, you have to bear the consequences yourself. Don't tell me that i never warn you...

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

Good Karma

Karma!! I tell you, it's Karma!!

Ever since i started driving around, parking at spaces which need parking coupons, being the "kuai" me, i always tear out parking coupons to avoid the aunties and uncles placing a small but long rectangular expensive paper on my windscreen...

I simply hate to see fingerprints on my windscreen...

And i hate it more when i have to pay for having those fingerprints on my windscreen...

And sometimes, i would return back to my vehicle with quite of time left on my coupons, and i would simply wait for the next lucky ride to come in, and pass them the unexpired coupons.

Did it for quite a number of times, and the good deed came back to me.

I went to beach road army market for dinner yesterday night, and upon chancing a lot after waiting for a couple of minutes, (a lorry driver want to snatch the lot from me, and i horn him, and ask him to get off) a guy walk up to my window.

My first impression is that he wanted to buy a coupon from me.

Nope.. He was holding on to a coupon, and he passed it to me. I look, and it's a totally unexpired coupon. 1 hour worth of parking time!! Woots!!

Thanked him and went to have my dinner happily. It made my day, despite the fact that the claypot rice stall was closed.

Dinner time took half an hour. By the time i reach the carpark, only half an hour had elasped.

So, i passed on the kindness, the half an hour unexpired time to another lucky fellow who happend to drive in at that time.

From his profused thanks, i think, i made another person's day also...

Spread kindness around. It will come back to you!!

Weekend spend

==============================================
Short talk :

Happy Birthday to AM and HS!!!

==============================================

Okie... my brain revived a little bit. (Most of them are still "dead" mode)...

Here's the photos taken over the last week..

Thursday, went over to Suntec for the PC show, and we, (AM, ZX and me) dropped over to Ant's pet shop to meet up.

Hamsters cuddling and sleeping together. Ain't they cute?

And here's a hamster wannabe...

There were 2 ladies in the shop, admiring the hamsters and the bunnies, when i suggested to them to buy the bunnies, and one of the lady replied back the typical answer, "you buy one for me loh"...

I am speechless...

AM bought 2 hamsters for his wife, as a present for their first wedding anniversary.

Sat/Sun. Archery at NUS.

Archers, Standby!!

Overall view

Fire!

Checking the scores...

And it so happens that today is one of the member's birthday, so we had an early celebration yesterday at NUS.

The birthday girl

Blowing out the candle...

That's how i spend my weekends... Super tiring...

Sunday, June 15, 2008

Tired out totally

Am physically, mentally, psycologically, spiritually drained... Super duper shagged... So much things, so packed, till sometimes, i find myself grasping for breath...

And to top it all, the damm internet connections problems came back after a couple of days of working flawlessly...

Dunno what is happening to me. So much duties that i feel totally drained out. Taxing me off of whatever energy i got, to an extend that i can actually totally forgot about one of my friend's housewarming party today!

Of course, being a friend, i went down to his housewarming party after the end of duty, and after sending the members back, which almost cause me to fall asleep at the wheel while driving.

I think i am suffering from multiple duties fatigue syndrome. (MDFS).. for 3 straight weekends in a row saw me doing duties, and attending a course.

AED course, NTU bike rally 2008 in the first week.

ACID Camp in the Second week...

NUS Archery in the third week.

And still got the NDP duties, TP rockamania 2008, NUS Run, and others upcoming events.

And every time i went for a duty, i always ask this question to myself... "What the F am i doing this on a weekend when i can rest?"

Call me stupid or idiot, but i know that no matter how much "complains" that i am bladdering now, if there's a duty that needs help, or needs manpower, and if i got nothing to do on that day, i will go.

You can call me dumb for wasting all my weekends chionging duties when i could have gotten a rest, but i still will chiong duties... At least my weekend is more interesting than sleeping those days away.

That's me.

Like the chinese song that i like very much...

(Translated)
I believe i am who i am,
I believe in myself,
I believe i can touch the sky when i raise up my hands...

Okie... i am bladdering nonsense again... MY brain is absoluting dead.

Will post the photos taken these few days in my next post... (Hopefully)

Nothing much

Nothing much to write, except to share some nice photos...

Still have not recovered from the shock and the repercussions of seeing the new iPhone 3G...

Lights passing throught water...

Quite nice...

Sars doing this when i started playing on the piano... I am sure if you are there, you will do the same as him... It's that terrible...

AM and his new ear ring!!! Elmo style!!

Traffic cops spotted on the overhead bridge at Nicole Highway with a speed camera... they are always there... Motorist, if you are travelling that part, BEWARE!!

Now, can you guess what's the hell is that?

And some typo and writing errors... can you spot them??
