What Mr Andrew Chin did can set off an intense debate. And true enough, on the 17th May (AF bought a copy of the TNP), 2 readers had commented on the comments by Mr Andrew Chin.

Actually, i know nothing of the following news till i read the 2 comments on the 17th May.

This post is to give me a chance to voice out my thoughts.

I agreed that that boy needs to be given a second chance, but not because that he is from a top school, but because of his age. In fact, all ppl should be given a second chance, as i have been a supporter of the yellow ribbon project. Besides, who had never erred before?

What i disagree with Mr Chin is that he tries to "defend" the people from top schools, citing that they face tremendous pressure to do well, struggles to fit in, to be on your best behavious and be a role model.

Please, don't be a elitist. Just because you been through top schools during your secondary school and JC years, and you feel you face more pressures than students in neighbourhood schools.

Actually, after reading the news, to be frank, its nothing worth mentioning about. The 17 year old boy is going through that the rest of us had went throught, the rebellious age, which "anything-that-i-do-is-correct" ego is important to a boy. Morever, he's doing it for his gf's sake, or for his face's sake. And indeed, he's still a boy. But after what i had read from Mr Chin's comments, i feel i should let myself be heard too.

Students in neighbourhood school does faces pressures too. And let's not forget, there are students in neighbourhood school that does want to score well for their exams, facing pressure from their family, society, peers and relatives. There are students in neighbourhood schools who struggles to fit into the school enviroment, be it in the UG, sports, cultural organisations, besides studies.

Its very pressuring when your parents compares you often with your cousin who is studying in a top school in terms of results, telling all your relatives how hopeless you are, how its impossible for you to beat your so call "top schooled cousin", and how forever lagging you will be.

Firstly, the boy should have known that assualting falls under the criminal law. Even young kids at kindergarten knows fighting is wrong, and he, in his school uniform, from a top school punched a bus captain for doing his job. So, what's up with the pressure to be on your best behaviour and be a role model?

And that boy should be throughly ashamed of himself for having his father to keel down and beg for forgiveness for something that his son did. The son should be the one to kneel down and beg for forgiveness himself. One should answer for one's action, and not let their loved ones take the rap.

Sick

Hi peeps!!! I am back!!! Miss me??

Few of you been wondering what's the heck with my blog. Have not update since 15th May.

I been sick. Down with stomach flu, lao sai, flu, fever, vomitting, gastric pains... Sounds serious enough?

Well, i have not been feeling well since Monday. Tue, i went back to work, but was feeling so sick that i left work early to see a doctor. Those who know me well enough knows that i seldom see a doctor unless i am really not feeling well.

Got a day's MC for Wednesday. Rested at home (my home and AF's home), thinking that i will be well enough to go back to work on Thu.

Wrong. Thu morning, i woke up feeling extremely weak all over, till i find it hard to even get up from bed. Called in sick from work. Besides the afternoon time when i had to find some food, the rest of the day was spend sleeping, till night.

Met up with Mr and Mrs (Soon to be) AM, ZX and AF, talking cock. Had a whale of time "suaning" CS thr the phone, coz she always called AM, Viper. wahahaha... Poor CS...

Reached home after talkingcock session, realised that cannot sleep.. (slept too much in the day liao...) and so decided to go back office to clear some paperwork. 2 days of absence results in lots paperwork for me to clear.

GST credits

Just realised one thing.

Today is the 15th May. Halfway into May. It's also an important date this year.

Today is the starting date for citizens of Singapore to sign up for free money, which the goverment terms it "GST Credit".

The GST (Goods and Services Tax) is set to increse in July and the goverment is giving the citizens money to "offset" the increase in GST.

And here i am, trying to log into HSA (Health Sciences Authority) using Singpass (SIngapore Password, which one can use it to go into almost any goverment website, including IRAS, CPF, etc etc...)

And i cannot even go into the goddamm Singpass log on page. Is it of all the citizens desperate for money logging in to sign-up? And this results in my work to be done online thr HSA which i need to log on!!! Goddamm it... Damm despo for money, all those ppl, till affecting my work.

Tonight, i am going to the nearby ATMs to see how long the queue is.

First time at new Supreme Court

I was summoned to Supreme Court yesterday.

And honestly, what's your reaction to me being summoned to Supreme Court? I got charged?? For what crime?

Nope. I was summoned by the SJAB HQ (actually, i volunteered) to report to Supreme Court to assist in a CPR course as an instructor.

Its my first time entering the new Supreme Court. I had went to the old Supreme Court, Subordinate Court, the old Colombo Court(to make new plastic ICs), and even the courts at Bukit Timah (they got a sale going on.)

Tight security. Frankly speaking, from the times, i went in and out of Supreme Court, i don't know how radioactive my belongings are. Each time i enter, my belongings will be x-rayed and i have to step through a metal detector. I prob. don't need any flashlights anymore, as i and my belongings will GLOW in the dark after yesterday.

Sad to say, everytime i stepped through the metal detector, it beeped. I asked the cisco guard how come everytime i went through the metal detector, it beeped, when the others did not.

He simply replied. "Might be due to your metal belt buckle".

Bullshit. Seeing the others being scanned, especially the lawyers. They are "armed" with a metal belt bucklt, metal watches, metal rings, tie clips, the alarm just failed to go off.

Hmmm... Maybe, i have too much iron in my blood, and that trigger the alarm. Hmmm... possible?

Or the damm machine just dun like me?

CPR with the staff of supreme court was kinda fun. Its a small group. They spoke with the "lawyers" jagon, that only those who had faced the warth of justic before understands.

I got no desire to understand it.

Anyway, i should not be saying too much here, as whatever i say will be used against me as an evidence in a court of law.

It's my blog's 1 year old birthday today!!

I had set up my blog on 10th May 2006. It started when i was going to KTV with some of the neighbourhood friends. Encountered some RTAs and some funny incidents, which prompt me to start up a blog to share all those with my readers.

Since then, the blog has become (in a way) a method to "vent" out my feelings, my frustrations, my thoughts, funny incidents which i had encountered etc etc... But, i still will not post my most inner feelings, secrets onto this blog.

In this year, i had posted a total of 337 post, had 3924 visitors since i started the counter (I forgot when i started the counter thingy) and since 7th March 2006 to 4th May 2006, i got a total of 1448 visitors coming in from US, South America, Europe, Africa, India, China, East / West Malaysia and Australia. Thank you for supporting, dear readers.

One of my post was quoted in the Asia observer website, about my views on the minister pay hike. I was like "Wow... first time siah... but then hor, will the ISD come to my house or not leh"... I am kinda honoured.

Sometimes, i really hate TPs (Traffic Police)... They always appear when you are doing something wrong. It seems that they have kinda superpower that will instantly appear when you go into the wrong side of the rules...

And the worst thing is that when you see fellow drivers driving recklessly, dangerously, cutting across double white lines, signalling wrongly, and you wish for TP to appear, they will never turn up...

Nope. I was not pulled over for flouting the traffic rules... In a way, i was flouting it, but i don't know if my vehicle licence plate had became a reference number for that TP for 4D inspiration. (Copied down). I was overtaking some really slow moving traffic (i wonder if TP got pull over any vehicles for travelling below the speed limit for highways? Some travelled really slow) into lane 1.

Then i saw the TP. I am sure that the TPs must be trained by SAF Sniper School for camouflage lessons. Despite their white uniform, then can blend in perfectly to the road. They hide at around bends that you could not see them, and by the time you do, you are too late... Gotcha!! They can appear out of no where and suddenly, they are beside you, zooming away...

So, i hope nothing will happen. I did not see the TP taking down numbers, till i passed him.

Sing to the Dawn

Bring back memories also. This is one of our literature texts during my secondary school days. (Sec 2). Funny thing is that i already got an copy of that book at home, and i was not aware of it.

So, i bought another copy of that book from the bookshop. (I still got the 2 copies today). And having 2 copies bring benefits. Then i always keep a copy under my desk, (never bring home), and i never have to tell the teacher that i had forgetten to bring that text to class. I do bring the other copy to class also, and my classmates know whom to find when they had forgotten to bring their copies.

It's a touching story about how a village girl fights for her rights to go to the city to further her studies against her brother, with the aim to improve the living standards of her village. How the parents react, and how the grandmother supported her. It's also a story about sibling love and rivalary.

Village folks always believe that girls should stay at home and make babies, and let the men do all the studying and providing for the household. But the fact is, in this modern world, time's had changed. In Singapore, both the male and the female have to come out and work to meet the living standards, to afford a decent, if not, comfortable life to the family.

And in our lit class, we had a project with regards to this story. We did a voice recording of the story, with music background, character playing for it. If i am not wrong, we did receive quite high marks for our effort.

It's a book that i never forget, it last a deep impression on me.

And now they are coming out with a animated film. Anyone interested?

Food for thought

Had a long long chat with ZX and AF yesterday night. (Until 0400 hours).

After a long long chat, comes a long long period of thinking. Its food for thought. That raise the question, "who the hell am i?" I cannot answer that question right now.

What you think to be true may not be the truth. What you think is correct may not be the best solution to a problem. Who you think you are may not be the same person in another person's eyes. What path you take which you think with the least obstacle, you end up tripping over your own foot.

Simply speaking, sometimes, you dun know what you did can affect what ppl sees you. Question is, do you mind or not?

RESULTS....

Funs over. Back to work. Been going for duties on Thursday, Friday and Sat. A fun-filled weekend, that includes chionging to BQ getting high.

How come time flies when you are having fun and today, it took forever to reach lunch hour? I cannot wait for the next weekend to arrive.

Finally, after a long long long long absence , i made my way back to Boat Quay... to chiong (not duties... really chiong) (the last time i went to BQ was when JB opened his KTV pub, and i went down on the opening day)

It's EC birthday... (Yesterday). Met up with him for "supper" and afterwards, its cab time to BQ. First time tried Chivas plus plenty of green tea. What can i say about this chiong outing? Nothing interesting... Went to a KTV pub, have a whale of time drinking lots green tea and a little bit of Chivas... Am a bit high now...

The last time i was high was when i was in Australia for Ex Wallaby (SAF Training) as an aggressor in 2001. The whole platoon drowned 12 liters of wine!!! Its the same feeling i am having now... But then hor, since i still can update my blog now shows something.

In a way, i had never really tried liquor. And this session is a "test" for me to see how much liquor can i take. Its a test to see my limits. And i know my own limits.

But my stand on chionging is still the same.. Not worth it. And the fact that i drive always provide me an excuse not to drink. (EC was determined to make me drink today by asking my to park my van at HQ and take a cab to BQ)... Bo bian.... my SJAB buddy request leh...

Hmmm... why am i updating my blog when i should be sleeping now?? So, good night folks!!!

Aviva Singapore Open (Badminton)

Duty yesterday. Have to go help out. It was a huge cock-up from someone (You know who).

Jump smash by a Hong Kong Player, using my camera phone. Took me a few minutes to take this picture...

Its an exciting night. There's a few fierce competitions. Especially the men's doubles, Malaysia Vs China. Its an very interesting and exciting match. A team from Singapore in the Women's doubles won. Susilo also won and proceed further into the tourament.

But the most exciting part of the duty is the shopping part.Every year, since the time from Yonex-Sunrise Singapore Open, i have been shopping at the competition venue.

Sunrise (a distributor of Yonex products) had set up a shop selling some stuffs. Went up with EG to take a look. Actually, that's my primary mission of going for this duty. Shopping. The clothing there are very nice and cheap.

Imagine a Yonex polo T shirt cost only 20 bucks, and a windbreaker cost 30 bucks. Bought a few Polo Ts, and a shorts. Not to forget a manual airhorn. (you have to blow into it to get the airhorn sound. And it is LOUD!)

Singapore tops again

Singaporeans, the fastest walking speed in the world? Wow... That surprises me siah...

Singapreans uses an average of 10.55 seconds to walk 18 meters, that boils down to a speed of 6.14 km/h!!! That's fast, given the SAF's route march speed of 4km/h.

And these prove one thing. Singaporeans are "kiasu", (scared to lose), that's why they walk faster, and faster and faster, and to get ahead of each other! Also, it proved that Singaporeans are also very competitive by nature. They will not be happy when they are losing in walking to other ppl, so that's they try to out pace each other... Hell, they even do it on the roads!!

From early 90s, Singaporeans have walked 30% faster, while the other countries only have an increase of 10%... So, in another 15 years time, (assuming that the speed increase is constant), Singaporeans will walk at a speed if 8km/h.

I certainly do have a problem keeping up at that speed.

But then, one thing eludes me. If Singaporeans walk the fastest, and they want to move fast, travel fast, how come i don't see any Singaporeans winning the gold medal in track and field? Not even a gold medal at SEA Games, not to mention breaking the world record.

Longest time in queueing up.

Singaporeans are very adapted to queueing up, be it queueing up for HDB flats NDP tickets (in the past), favourite food and even Hello Kitty toys!!

We are sure to tops the patience in queueing up. But just don't do a survey at the bus stops, coz Singaporeans just don't queue up to board the bus or the train.

Morning jams

There's a trend in my daily travelling to work. Been noticing it for a long time, and decided to post it in my blog.

Almost every weekday morning, when i am working normal office hours, i will encounter a jam. "what lah, only a jam".. you may be thinking to yourself...

But this jam is not a normal jam. It occurs in different place. Before i explain, let me tell you my daily route to office. (Errr.... nope no one is going to lay an ambush for me hor)...

BKE (southwards) to PIE towards Jurong, exit Clementi Ave 6, go all the way to AYE (towards Changi) and exit North Buona Vista.

So, if i leave the house at 0730, i will face the jam at PIE (towards jurong) and reach the office around 0815. If i leave my house at 0800, i will have to face the jam at BKE, and i reach the office around 0840. If i leave the house at 0830, i will face the jam at Clementi Ave 6 and half the AYE, reaching office at 0900.

Funny thing is that i always encounter a jam. Not 2 or 3 jams at different parts of the journey. When its jams at BKE, PIE and AYE will be free, when it jams at PIE, AYE and BKE will have no jam, so on and so forth... Its very, very, very, seldom that i went to work on a weekday morning (no upcoming public holidays), without any jam. Be it minor or major.

Today is different in a way. The BKE is smooth flowing. PIE is not packed. AYE got not much heavy vehicles, and no heavy traffic.

BUT THEN..... There's an RTA at the road to AYE from PIE at Clementi Ave 6 Exit. And there's a jam there. (no injuries).

Damm... Issit i got no fate to go to work on a weekday morning without any jams?

Getting famous

One thing i'll never understand...

When a gal gets famous, rumors will start to flow... Bad malicious rumors, that can get worse as each day passes by...

Okie, i admit that i do not know her, but i find her blog kinda interesting, be it she's crapping or talking about some serious stuff. Can say that she's kinda attain fame in blogging.

And recently, she went for Miss Malaysia pagent. A beauty contest.

And now, just take a look at her tag board.

And these kinda problems are often found more apparent in the female gender. Kinda funny leh.
You wanna say something or make a point, prove it. Under the law, one is innocent till proven guilty.

Simply, are those ppl just plain jealous of her or what? If that's the case, i only got 2 works for those who wanna be famous. "Work hard", and maybe 2 more words, "good luck".

Mayday...

Hmmm....

Mayday or labour day is over... Next holiday will be on the 31st May.... First and last day of May is a public holiday....

Talking about Mayday, how come it become a distress call code?? You take a radio transmitter and just shout into it, "MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY!!!" and those listening and monitoring the radio network will instantly stop and try to reach you. But do not attempt to do it, unless you are in distress.

A radio call with the heading, "mayday 3 times" is enough to scramble search and rescue operations.

Also reminds me of a song, by Bee Gees... First of May.... A very nice nice song....

Hmmm... okie, wake up!!! Mayday is over... Holidays is over!!! Back to work!!! (Slaps myself)...

But then hor, kinda miss the holidays... Long long time since i really laze around in bed, watching VCDs the whole day, flying kite at night!! Relaxing, resting and catching up on my sleep!

Gee, i cannot wait for the next holiday!
