FTPSS A SJ C 2007

I was invited over to FTPSS for their annual SJ camp. To teach campcraft (knots and lashings) to their members.

I was given a pass when i entered the school, stating me as a External Instructor.

Officially looking pass, that you have to wear when you are in school.

I miss camps. Recalled the times when i was a member in a Uniformed groups. And initially, i do not like camps.

I feel like some "caged animal" having to do what the camp instructors tell me to do. Just follow blindly, follow their way, even i can think of better ways to get the job done with less effort and with better results.

That was in the past, the era of regimental discipline, where creativity and thinking out of the box does not exist.

And i envy the instructors. They seems to have all the fun.

And when i become an instructor, i think otherwise. Planning a camp is work. Excecuting a camp is worst work. When the campers are sleeping, you are planning. When the campers are eating and bathing, you are doing some briefing and de-briefing.

But that was the fun part of it.

I always like going down to schools.

The wordings are on a classroom door!!! Isn't vandalising?

In my time, this qualifies for a session of public caning and suspension of school. How the times change.

Games playing (Teamwork and bonding session). A superman wannabe trying out his luck. Maybe his team should let go of their hands and see if he could really fly or not.

One thing's for sure. Superman doesn not fly with his head down.

And i am sure that that superman wannabe will envy the 2 persons sitting inside the helicopter below. (Being able to fly while sitting down, not in supine position).

And finally, its dinner time!!! Before you must consume your dinner, you must first cook your dinner.

And it's supposed to be field cooking session. I can't help smiling when i think back on my NPCC days field cooking session.

We really collect firewood to start a fire. No such things as a solid fuel. We were given 3 matchsticks to start a fire also. Additional matchsticks needed will have to request... wrong... begged from the instructors, and after much "punishment" you will receive a pathetic matchstick.

And imagine opening a can without can openers! Those were fun. And cooking noodles in pineapple syrup. Yummy!!! It's tasty!

My time had passed. There's definity a better way to cook maggie mee. But to those starved campers, it's a gourmet meal.

If i am a camper, i would say maggie mee the most delicious meal in the world.

There's a nice shot taken of CK. He's cool! He can go and become a model!

And then, there's another model wannabe in the picture below.

But somehow, he does resemble someone. His poise, the way his arms are crossed. Even the angle of his head turned also does resemble someone, someone very famous in Singapore.

Can guess who's that someone?

Look below for the answer.

Haha...

CK and Venod. No punk intended.

Dengue reaches epidemic levels

Dengue reaches epidemic levels in Singapore.

This is a worrying trend. It has reach epidemic levels in Singapore.

Graphs showing the past history of dengue cases.

Hotspots of dengue outbreak in Singapore.

(Graphs are taken from NEA website)

And in the world, the dengue hotspots are,

Picture from http://www.stanford.edu/group/virus/flavi/2000/dengue.htm

Dengue is caused by a (+)ssRNA, positive single strand RNA (Ribosenucleic Acid) virus, belonging to the Flaviviridae famile and the Flavivirus Genus.

If you that sway sway (unlucky) to kena (catch) the dengue, you will know when you suddenly develop a high fever, with severe headache, muscle and joint pains.

So, lets do take care of ourselves.

Declare war on the mozzies!!! KILL KILL KILL!!!

And this website teaches you how to fight against mozzies!!

Classification of Friendster's friends

Alright. I do admit that i got too much free time on my hands!!!

I am waiting for the big bugger to cool down from the temperature of 121 degrees C to 25 degrees C.

This is the big bugger, which is known as a fermentor.

It's undergoing a sterilization process whereby the medium is heated up to a 121 degress C using superheated steam, to kill all the bacteria in the medium.

And while it is heating and cooling, there's nothing to be done, except for some monitoring.

And it can take a long long time to cool down.

So, i surf the net. And in my friendster, looking at all my friends listed in there, i suddenly got a thought. Do i know everyone in there? It's been a long long time since i really took my time to go in and have a look at all my "friends".

So, i took a piece of paper and start to keep records of all my friend's list in friendster.

And here's the results.

The graph above decipts the percentage of the gender of my friends in friendster.

And this graph shows how i got to know my friends in my friendster list.

There's 2 ppl whom i don't know, and i cannot recall how the hell they got into my list. It's kinda funny, to sit down, to scroll throught their pictures, and trying to think. There's no one closely related in my network of friends.

Okie... Stop cursing at me. I know this is a damm bo liao post, but then, i just got too much time at hand now.

Maybe you should do just i did. You will be surprised by the statistics.

Duan Wu Festival

Today is the 9th June, according to the western calander.

But on the chinese lunar calander, its the 5th day of the 5th month, and for the chinese, its also known as the Duan Wu Festival.

Chinese on that day will eat dumplings, or meat dumpling (usually pork) is stuffed inside glutinous rice together with other fillings and wrapped with bamboo leaves into a pyramid shape, which is later secured with raffia strings and steamed.

On that day, there will be dragonboat races too. Dragonboat are multiple oars powered boats with a dragon head in front, and a a tail behind. There's a dummer (supposely to co-ordinate the rowers) at the front and a steersman (to steer the direction of the boat) at the back.

A dragon Boat.

At the bow of the boat is the dragon's head.

The dummer. He's doing multi-tasking.

The 2 fellows standing are the steersman.

Legend of the Duan Wu Festival

Duan Wu Festival is celebrated in honor of a patroit man. Qu Yuan, (ca. 340 BC - 278 BC).

Qu Yuan was a minister in the government of the state of Chu, descended of nobility and a champion of political loyalty and truth eager to maintain the Chu state's sovereignty.

But he was back-stabbed by corrupt ministers (politics again... haiz~~)

In 278 BC, learning of the capture of his country's capital, Ying, by General Bai Qi of the state of Qin, Qu Yuan is said to have written the lengthy poem of lamentation called "Lament for Ying" and later to have waded into the Miluo river in today's Hunan Province holding a great rock in order to commit ritual suicide as a form of protest against the corruption of the era.

(information taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duanwujie)

Qu Yuan, portrait by an unknown artist; in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, Taiwan.

I do wonder ppl in the past does commit suicide just for protest against the goverment? Modern day protest consist of holding cardboards, chanting and sleeping in front of the goverment house.
After Qu Yuan had died, villagers went out in boats (similar to dragon boats) to search for him. They beat drums along to scare away the fishes from feasting on his body, and they threw rice into the river as a offering to him.

One day, Qu Yuan appeared in the dreams of a villager. (Too bad, there's ain't 4D in the past), and informed him that the rice offering to him had been stolen by the fishes.

So, to prevent fishes from stealing the food, the villagers wrapped the rice and meat with bamboo leaves and streamed them and threw them into the river as a offering.

And in Singapore, if you dump dumplings into the sea or the river, the NEA, NParks will prob come after you with a writ of summons. So, please don't.

Thus the story.

===============================================

I got no dumplings to eat today. Anyone kind enough to spare me one or 2 extras???

A little girl and a rabbit

I was at one of the Pet Shops recently, looking and admiring their rabbits and hamsters when a family walked into the shop.

The "daddy" is asking about rabbits. They are buying a rabbit as a birthday gift for their daughter, who is present at the scene also. The daughter was staring lovingly at the rabbits that are on display.

There's nothing special about someone buying pets. But what clearly engraved on my mind is that little birthday girl to be soon.

She selected a rabbit, a nice cute huggable rabbit. The sales assistance was telling them tips on how to care for the rabbit, but that little girl, her eyes was only on the rabbit. I doubt that she is listening to the sales assistance.

I can see the sparkle in her eyes. I can tell that she has fallen in love with the rabbit. She could not take her eyes off that little white furry thing. Even when her mum was talking to her, she is still looking at that rabbit instead of her mum.

The sales assistance turned to that little girl. teaching her how to carry the bag with the precious cargo inside, telling her how not to frighten the rabbit, how to carry it.

She became very attentive. She place her hands on that rabbit for the first time. She carried and hugged that rabbit for the very first time. I can see her joy, her smile, which is very infectious, and make everyone witnessing the scene to break into a smile. Me included.

At that moment, i knew that the rabbit had found a blissful home.

And i hope that the little girl can still cuddle, hug, play and stroke that same rabbit with the same loving care years down the road, and not ignore, abuse that rabbit.

No food and drinks in the coffeeshop

Seen this sign inside a coffeeshop where ppl do go and have their drinks and meals??

Does it say "NO FOOD AND DRINKS?!?!?

No food and drinks in the coffeeshop? And what's a coffeeshop for? It's just like you go inside a toilet and there it reads "no peeing or shitting."

Oh man... Those people are driving me bonkers!!!

Best answer in Yahoo! Answer

Sometimes, i do go to Yahoo! Answers to surf through questions posted by web-users, and if i am able to, i will try to give them my answers to the best of my knowledge.

And in one of the questions posted, my answer had been voted as one of the best answers.

Nothing to cheer about it. Since there's only 2 answers to that question posted.

http://sg.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070511234908AAw3qPW

Anyway, it's a molecular genetics question, and i majored in that subject in my studies.

===================================================

Another drowning case. Sad to read about it.

Man drowns at Pasir Ris Fisherman's Village

A Farewell dinner, ROM and Birthday celebrations

Had a very very busy weekend.

Friday. Went to Supreme Court for the last time (to teach CPR) for this round. A group of 6 administers. Though the class size is small, the workload is still the same.

I tried to bring in my camera into Supreme Court. The Cisco security guard stopped me, after X-raying my bag.

Cisco Guard : You got camera in your bag?

Me: Yes.

Cisco Guard : Cameras are not allowed in Supreme Court. Even staffs have to have permission to bring cameras into the Supreme Court.

In my mind, i wanted to ask her (Cisco Officer) what about camera phones. But seeing her revolver and her handcuffs around her belt, i stopped. I got no desire to join Christopher Lee in the same cell.

That friday is the appeal sentence of Christopher Lee. No wonder that Cisco Officer thinks i am an reporter undercover to smuggle camera into the court room, and photograph the bald headed Christopher Lee?

But then, i got this picture of a infant manikin sitting in the chair using my camera phone.

Kinda funny right? No cameras allowed in the Supreme Court, but camera phones are allowed even to the public....

Haiz~~~

Friday evening. Went to Seoul Gardens for dinner, an outing organised by Zone 3 in honor of MT. She is going away to US for 2 years as part of her job, and it is sort of a farewell dinner to her.

Delicious soup! We used lots and lots of prawns, to get the best taste of the soup. YR and me did an act. Initially, the prawns tray was empty. And when YR and me was there, i innocently asked the staff if there's any more prawns, he nodded and took out a box of prawns, and poured them into the tray.

I gave a signal to YR. Basically we wacked off about 90% of the prawns from that tray after the refilled.

Frankly speaking, you must be a chicken lover to go and eat at Seoul Garden. Most of the meat there is chicken. Coffee chicken, garlic chicken, Char Siew chicken etc etc. I find the choices of meat very limited.

I compensate by wacking up all their ice-cream.

Night time. We (AF, ZX, WC and me) managed to drag AM to Geylang for his bachelor night. We walked through geylang to look at the ladies standing by the road-side. (No hanky-panky involved). Stayed there till 0330 in the morning.

Sat morning. Went down to HQ to train our zone members for the First Aid Competition. Manged to claim some money from HQ too. A fruitful trip indeed.

Afternoon. I was very tired, but there's a big big event coming up. Packed up my things, and off i go to help AM for his ROM later.

Maybe i was too tired, i need to return home 3 times (after i drove off) to take something which i forgotten to bring along.

Aaron's ROM. I was helping out as the "DJ", and here's my tools for the job.

Wireless microphones, A lap-top, a amplifier/mixer, speakers and of course, i was Aaron's receptionist (just answer his mobile phone calls), and basically to speak, AM was more busy than me.

One thing to take note. Next time you are attending a wedding or ROM, please do not call the bride and the groom if you are able to. Coz they just simply do not have the time to answer calls.

Theme of the ROM is RETRO. And indeed, the bride and the groom is dressed to the skies for that theme.

Seen a couple dressed like that for wedding before? Maybe in your parent's time huh?

Me and the groom. The retro and the "un-retro".

I got to know AM through the wholivesnearyou.com website. The photographer for that event, my friend, HS, was amazed by this BP WLNY supper group.

A small portion of the whole BP WLNY group. These are the ppl whom i had been hanging out with for a couple of years, beside the SJAB ppl.

As the event goes on, i realised one thing. In the solemnization event, there are a few fellows very important in capturing the beautiful memories of that event, which was often ignored. The photographers.

So, i capture the photographer in action.

HS in action. He's a professional photographer, and he is my "master", in teaching me the skills of photography. So, my dear readers, if you do need any photographers for any events, one got just the "lobang" (contacts) for you.

After the ROM, the BP WLNY supper group got "round 2".

The ROM is on a saturday, and the next day, sunday is AM's birthday. So, we got into another celebration.

The ice-cream birthday cake.

The groom blowing out the candles with the happy bride looking on.

Cake-cutting ceremony as a birthday celebration. They have yet to cut their wedding cake.

I had 2 small slices of that delicious cake. Yummy!!!

I left the celebration early. I was so tired to the extend that i suddenly had double visions while driving. Luckily, i arrived home safe and intact. And no, i did not take any alcoholic drinks.

Sunday, i woke up feeling hungry in the afternoon. Thinking back and to my surprise, i realised that i had not eaten anything since the Seoul Garden outing with my SJAB zone 3 ppl, except for that 2 pieces of ice-cream cake.

No wonder i am so hungry.

E mail spams

I got a burning issue.

Somehow, i keep receiving E mails from ppl saying that they need help for some medical condition, and needs to raise money, and some internet service provider will offer to donate money based on that circulation of E mail.

Is it true or is it just a normal @#*&^#*^%@#&* spam ppl create just to see how much circulation it travels around the globe? for the fun of it?

Does anyone knows about such things, and comment on it please?

Another spam whereby normally the end messages are:

"Forward this to XX ppl and you will receive a great surprise,
Forward this to YY ppl and you will receive 2 surprises
and if you delete this mail, you will encounter a horrible incident"

Or another spam

"Forward this mail to all the contacts in your address book to keep your account active"
or
"Repost this to keep your account active"

I called them spams. I deleted the E mail, and i still did not encounter any horrible incidents, and i am still alive and kicking.

I did not forward the mail, and all my accounts are still active.

One wonders the state of mind when a wu liao person started the whole thingy. Why can't they do something more meaningfully?

And one also does wonder the others who actually DOES forward the mail to others. Did they have too much free time on their hands?

Bullshit.

F4, ROTSS

Another movie caught by me and the usual gang.

Fantestic 4, Rise of the silver surfer. (F4, ROTSS in short?)

A silver surfer that can goes through walls!!! that's cool. Can save on the expenses of building a door for his home! With his board, he can even save the trouble of taking a lift and the MRT in Singapore! Just go surfing with the board!

And that silver surfer does some dumb things like making holes on the surface of the earth.

And that silver does oxidise when he has no power. I wonder how much he's worth. His weight in silver?

SMRT should have recuited him long time ago to help in digging tunnels for our train system. Would have save lots of money. I certainly needs his help when i go back to reservist training. To dig foxholes (fire trench) for me.

And here comes the heros to save the day.

+

=

A combination of the 4 powers. Cool!!! You can stretch, light up ciggies, fly and become invisible at the same time!!

Not a bad movie to watch, though the movie is predictable, but hey, this movie comes from a comic. The computer graphics is great, especially when the torch goes after him in a great chase.

Looking forward to the next special effects movie, TRANSFORMERS!

Photography skills

Now, i am in the process of learning the tricks and trade of photography.

Yah, i know that digitial camera makes it user friendly to lots of people out there, just put it on auto, point and shoot, and you have a picture.

But, as i experiment my camera more, i realised that auto mode is not the best. HS concurred with me.

Therefore, i don't think i will use auto mode while shooting.

I learned about exposure timing, a combination of shutter speed and the aperture, i learn about ISO (sorry for dragging you out of the bed, HS), i learn about exposure compensation (yet to try on it), i learn how to set the shutter speed and the aperture, and i tried on various enviroment and i had an idea on how to set the things in a given enviroment.

Digitial photography had made it all simple for everyone, and yet, it's not that simple to get the best out of it. The best thing is that you can view what you had taken and delete those whom you think is not worth it.

Photography is a interesting topic all right.....

GST Credits / Wrong delivery

When the goverment is giving away money, well, why not? Just take the money!

So, this post is a reminder to all those who qualify to take the free money whom had not sign up for it, you have only a few days left.

Singaporeans reminded to sign up for GST credits

To summerise the whole thing.

To get your GST credits on the 1st July, you need to meet the following deadlines.
1) Sign up via hard copy by 15th June 2007
2) Sign up via ATM by 25th July 2007.

Latest date to sign up is by 31st Dec 2007, otherwise, you can kiss your GST credits bye bye for 2007.

And at this time, all things are going up.

1) Minister pay going up.
2) GST going up.
3) Starhub cable TV charges going up.
4) NETS charges going up.

The saying "what goes up will comes down" does not apply to most things in Singapore, especially with the areas of Minister pay, GST and PTC (Public transport council).

====================================================

Second time that this had happened to my company.

A guy from this printing company made a delivery to us, and that items were not ordered from us. A mistake. The delivery address and the company name is address to us (our old company name), but then, we never ordered the items.

Eariler, someone sent me a letter concerning our application to join some organisation. The name and the address are correct, addressed to me, but the letter and the information inside the letter is addressed to another person, from another company.

Haiz~~~ what is happening?

Digitial Camera

I finally got a digitial camera.

That's the one. Canon A710IS. My very first camera that i own (besides my camera phone).

And hopefully, my blog can be filled with more pictures, of anything interesting that i encounter and wish to share with my readers out there.

Am still studying on how to operate the camera, how to get the best and the clear picture. Realised one thing. Automatic mode is not necessary the best mode for taking pictures. Sometimes, manual is the best.

Spend most of the afternoon taking pictures, doing experiments in photography and till now, i still have not mastered my new camera totally.

Saw these words on someone's MSN. I like it.

Never explain yourself to anyone.

Because the person that likes you don't need it,
And the person that does not like you will not listen to it.

relaxing weekend

Had a really relaxing weekend!! Did not have that "resting" for a long long time!!

Sat. Whole day in HQ. Teaching First Aid to the new members. Had quite a interesting time. Explaining to them the principles behind on how to diagnose a injury and how to treat it.

FA is actually common sense, base on a solid foundation of knowledge of the human anatomy and the basis of injury.

Afternoon, went to train the Competition Team from MPSS. A brunch of motivated members. Did not really complain then they are tasked to do more than they are willing take it. They do motivate themselves, willing to learn, and practise till to the satisfaction of the trainers.

I do enjoy training that group of members. Reminds me of the YTSS members that i was training for the zone competition.

Sat night, went to MS for a BBQ, steamboat buffet dinner at Zhen Fa. Disappointment. The crabs are frozen, the prawns are dead and super not fresh, the meats are marinated poorly, they had run out of seafoods. Lesson learnt. Do not go there on Sat nights.

Met Kenny and Peter there. Surprise surprise...

Sunday, went for a relaxing swim at my friend's condo. Nothing siong. Just a relaxing swim with Viper and AM. After which is breakfast time, and back home for a sleep till night time. Had dinner with Viper, CS, AF, ZX, AM and S. Had a whale of a time asking lame questions, cracking jokes.

Yeap. It's a relaxing weekend, alright. I did not feel the monday blues.

Movies galore

Movies galore!!! For the past one week, i went to watch 2 movies!

Movie 1) Shrek 3.

The Friendly green ogre.

Do i look like shrek's brother?? Never mind about the skin colour. Cannot be racist, you know...

The amination is fantestic... More real than the real world.

The best characters of the movie, the puss in boots and the irritating donkey.

It's a comedy, alright. Another favourite character of mine, that i cannot find the picture, the gingerbread man.

But that movie is basically very very straight-forward. You just sit down and laugh at their actions, laugh at their conversation, and laugh even when its not funny. It's a nice show to watch as a stress buster. But do not watch on weekends, as i feel that it's just not worth the price.

No-usage of brains show. You just see the story and laugh.

Movies 2) Ocean's thirteen

I had missed watching Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12. But luckily, my sister got the DVD, and i had enjoy it. It's about a group of man who got together with one mission. To con, for a reason.

3 of my favourite characters in Ocean's 11, 12 and 13.

However, Ocean's 13 is quite a disappointment. There's no hidden plot. Their plan is straight-forward. They had over-looked some serious flaws of their plans. It's quite straight-forward, and your mind can have a rest while

Besides that, i still like the way they did their jobs. Totally cool, professional and even calm in the face of Mr Murphy Law. Their plans are well-planned, supremely excuted and when some unforseen events cropped up, they are fast to come up with ways to counter it.

And if this is happening in real life, i am darn sure that i would want to be another normal patron in that casino with them. Winning big money!!

Murphy's Law = Anything that can goes wrong will goes wrong.

Upcoming movies that i die die must watch...

1) Transformers (opening 28th June)
That movie reminds me of my childhood days when transformers and Masks are the "rage" of the cartoons.

2) Die hard 4 (opening 05th July)
Another Bruce Willis never dying action film.

3) Bourne Ultimatum (opening 3rd Augest)
Another Jason Bourne who lost his memory???

Giving up

Sometimes, you pine for something, knowing that it's beyond your reach, and knowing that it's impossible to get... Will you carry on pining for that something? Will you make it your goal, your ultimate aim to get it, to process it and to own it?

I am sure that problem is what everyone face. You envy ppl with that something that you want, you dream of processing it, but knowing that in reality, it's not possible.

Sometimes, giving it up is the best answer. I know that "giving up" persons are considered the "losers"... But hey, sometimes, giving something up because you know its impossible for it to happen, may be the best thing in life.

Imagine, you so badly want something, you pine, you whine, you scrimp and you dream of it, and it does not go the way that you want, the reality of it is going further and further away, you will end up feeling stressed, depressed to the point that you can have a mental breakdown.

Giving it up totally, in other way, can relax and calm a person. You don't give yourself stress. You live happier, more cheerful, and more meaningful life.

Yes, by giving it up, you will never get what you had dreamt of, but at least, you are happier, right?

This post is not asking ppl to giving up just like that. You should not be giving up without a fight. If you do, then you will be a loser. Fight to the best of your ability, do not go beyond it, and when you do, without success, at least, you give up with a clear sense of consious, and you will be more at ease letting it go past you, and you will be more relaxed and be happier.

And who knows? Once you "gave up", over time, you may have that capability to process that "something" that you had once pined for, and that "something" will pass you by, and you can just stretch out your hand and grasp it.

It's just like there's once i want to change my van into a car. I called up some second hand dealers to sell my van, i went to look at the prices of the cars that i want, i spoke to some salesman, i talk to some of my friends. And i keep thinking if i am able to support a car or not.

There's lots of things to thing about. You think about it when you are working, you think about it when you are eating, shitting, bathing, watching TV etc etc...

And i gave it up. I got a van, and i will carry on driving the van, and all worries, thoughts vanish.

I feel happier and more relaxed now, when there's one trouble less on my mind.

Aliens in Singapore!!!

Read this news with much interest...

================================================

'Cone heads' on Orchard Road as part of S'pore Arts Festival

Wednesday June 6, 2:17 PM

SINGAPORE: Two aliens have made a hole in the ozone layer and dropped into earth for a visit, and they have been soaking in the sights and sounds of Singapore.

They have learnt to take trains and have been curious about how Singaporeans communicate.

=================================================

What a load of bullshit!!!!

If 2 aliens really make a hole in the ozone layer and dropped to earth (Singapore ) for a visit, these will what will be happening right now.

1) The FBI will arrest them and will charge them for destroying the ozone layer.

2) ICA will arrest them for being illegal immigrants.

3) Scientists will investigate them for their "special powers" for dropping down without burning up in the earth's atomsphere.

4) They will have scared everyone away. SAF will be immobilized to cordon off the area and to capture the "creature" at all cost.

5) They would not have taken trains, as they don't have any EZ link card with them, and they don't have any Singapore currency with them, and the EZ link machine does not accept Martian dollar notes.

6) Singapore would have a new SINGAPORE ICON for being a strange creature, as our merlion is a bit lonely.

7) Learning how Singapore commuicate. They will return to their planet, and tell the others that the young Singaporean men in green greet each other with the words "F**K you, and pointing middle fingers to the skies.

8) They will also learn that upon the command of "KUA SIMI (See what see)" can get everyone into some fast and furious exercise at areas especially BQ, CQ and other night spots.

9) They will also learn that Singaporeans like to form long lines just to eat.

10) Some ppl will tell them to get away from their elite, uncaring faces.

New cars and bikes

Some one sent me some pictures of new cars and bikes out. The car is sometime back. But i still keep that E mail, coz it's really shiok...

Lamborghini [Buggati Veyron]

Front view. It really does look sleek and fierce huh??

Look at the thickness of the tires!

The back view. Still as shiok.

That car had a nickname... FERRARI KILLER

1st gear - 100km/h
2nd gear - 150km/h
3rd gear - 200km/h
4th gear - 250km/h
5th gear - 310km/h
6th gear - 360km/h
7th gear - 406km/h

Can you imagine that if you are driving that car in Singapore, you only need the first gear to reach the speed limit of all the roads. No need to engage the other gears liao... And imagine the fuel comsumption for it.

With the raising fuel prices, i think it can suck any average man dry faster than a vampire.

And now, the bad news. The bike..

The bikes look very nice until you see the licence plate.

It belongs to the traffic police (TP). And now, they are using black bikes, which is harder to spot when you are speeding...

Oh shit... TP going into stealth mode... Only thing that you will know it's the TP is the licence plate, and if you can see the licence plate, then you are too late.

Have yet to see it on Singapore Roads. Wondering the TP riding it, is he wearing the TP uniform?

Another "bo liao" entry

And i am still not totally recovered.

My diarrhoea has since recovered, and now, i got a cough. Cough till my throat is hoarse. I did not take the cough mixture in the day, coz they will and did cause drowsiness, and how am i going to work or drive when i am drowsy?

Hence, i only took it at night, before sleep.

These few days, i have been coming to work late, but there's no response from my boss. And i been knocking off late, and my boss knows that. Getting busy in office liao. Launching new products soon, and there's lots of things to be done.

Singapore post delays

So, JW and Nazir got married, Congrads to them. Here, i wish them a happy and blissful married life, and hope they will have a "live happily ever after" life.

Nazir sure look tired but handsome in his outfit! He looks like a sultan!

Something's wrong with Singapore Post.

Way before JW's wedding, he sent me a invitation. And i wait, wait and wait, till JW called me up a few days before his wedding and enquire if i got his invitation.

"No leh, i never receive leh" i replied.

"Okie, no prob. I go sent again", JW promised.

To the day of his wedding, i only received one invitation card, and that was from Nazir, inviting me to his wedding. None from JW.

And yesterday, i got a wedding invitation card in my mail. (Postage type). I was shocked. Another wedding?!?!?!

Opened it up and realised that it was from JW... I recieved the invitation after the wedding!!!

The postage stamp was dated 24th May. How come it took a long time to deliver to me???

What the hell is Singapore Post doing???

=================================================

Look at the photo below... Is there anything wrong with the photo?

Noticed the P plate?

It's a class 4 lorry, and it's got a P plate?

Is the driver require to put a P (Probation) plate, when he got his Class 4 licence for less than a year? I am not sure, but sure as hell, this the first time i see a P plate on a class 4 vehicle...

Decided

Okie... I had made up my mind over something. I am giving myself 2 months to achieve my aim.

What thing?

I shall not tell you in here.. you will know in due course.

Drowning and falling trees

Hmmm...

Reading the news, and something similar struck me. It's about the case of the falling trees and drowning.

Saw this news just now on yahoo singapore and i was sadden.

Girl drowns at Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort

Monday June 4, 8:17 AM

As a former life-guard, drowning cases can be prevented in most case. Drowning incidents will occur when one under-estimated the dangers of the water and over-estimating their strenghts.

Even a strong swimmer can be drowned when he suffer cramps and panic while in the middle of the body of water. I had seen near-drowning cases whereby some kid swims halfway and started struggling in the middle of the swimming pool, for apparently no reason.

For those who want to know more about water-safety, or you want to be trained as a life-saver, or a life guard, you can always go to this website, the Singapore Life Saving Society. You will find the information there useful.

Or if you want to learn CPR (trust me, it comes in handy), there are a few training centers in Singapore that you can learn.

1) National Resuscitation Council
2) National Heart Center @ SGH
3) St John Ambulance Association
4) Singapore Red Cross Society

And if you are wonder what's the similarity between falling trees and drowning, there are 4 deaths from the recent falling trees and falling branch cases, and there are also 4 deaths from the recent drowning cases...

4 each....

In chinese or in cantonese, the word 4 = die...

Hmmmm....

Man dies after being hit by fallen branch

Man dies after being hit by fallen branch near Tree Top Walk

Friday June 1, 8:17 PM

Sadden to see another case of death caused by falling trees, or in this case, fallen tree branch...

Dear readers, education had taught you that you must never take shelter under a tree during a thunderstorm, with lighting and all those, but these incidents had reinforce us another thing to learn.

Do not go under a tree during windy, rainy periods besides the lighting thingy.

During thunderstorms, you might get killed either by lighting strikes or falling tree branches or even falling trees!!! Instead, look for the nearest coffee house and enjoy a hot cup of coffee instead. This is not difficult, given the presence of food centers springing up all over Singapore.

The olden terms, "you will see mama shops around every corner" will change to "you will see food centers around every corner"...

And when you are walking in those conditions, look up. As mentioned, you will not find gold in that way, but at least, you can spot falling trees (or branches) and "siam" (get away) in time, and if you are sharp enough, you can even prevent bird shit from dropping on your head!! And if you are not sharp enough, that bird shit may end up in your mouth...

And one way to teach the kids about the danger of falling trees...

Teach the kids this song. The tunes are from the popular children song titled "London bridge is falling down"

The big trees are falling down
Falling down, falling down
The big tress are falling down
get a-way now

Sick again

Been not blogging for a few days.

And you might have known, when i am not blogging, that means that i am not in office, or not using the computer at SJ HQ.

Thursday. Vesak Day. Whole day lazing and pooing at home. Yes. My case of the runs (die-rear) is back. Took a couple of loperamide capsules before going to JW's wedding. I don't want myself running to the toilet every few minutes and other's finishing all the delicious food when i return.

Only 3 of us were there. BW, ZX and me. There's a communications breakdown somewhere among me and JW, and that results in the others not turning up at his wedding.

Went back home, and basically spend the whole night being unable to sleep, feeling very uncomfortable, and running to the toilet every half hour or so, so much so that on Friday morning, i went to the clinic and blast away all my complains to the poor doctor, whom, if i had not heard wrongly, had met with an accident eariler.

Got a MC and a screwing from my boss for being absent from work.

Friday night, the full impact of my sickness set in.

Fever started. (My body temperature ranges from 37.9 - 38.5 degress C throughout the night), whole body was super duper weak, so much so that i find that even strumbling to the toilet was a chore that requires every ounce of my strenght. I was shivering the whole night, unable to sleep, and being fed up with all those nonsense, i took a double dose of my medication and panadol.

That worked. Tireness overwhelmed my discomfort and i fell asleep. (that was around 6 am in the morning.)

Kids, please do not try that at home, taking double dose of medication. It could be dangerous, and for me, i know that i can take the double dose of the medication, and seriously, i wish i could become unconsious so that all that discomfort could just go away.

I also seriously have the idea of going to the hospital, during the most uncomfortable period in that night. And it was also that time that i am thinking that if i am going to the hospital, thank god that i will be going to NUH (closer to where i am staying) than TTSH. Or perhaps, i should make a detour to TTSH and pay a paid visit to DT, EC, CS and Dr NC and give them a surprise....... Hahaha...

Woke up in the afternoon on sat. Feeling much much better. No need to visit any of the hospitals.

That's why i am now in office, clearing some paperwork, that was supposed to be dued on the friday. (That's why my boss screwed me for being absent from work).

Seems like my health for this year ain't so good.
