General Elections is coming!!

Okie... it's meant to be a joke... ISD, dun come after me hor...

General Elections are coming... and knowing from past history, polling day, which is a public holiday is always on a saturday.

Yah... public holidays which falls on a saturday is quite a waste. i know some company compensate by having the holiday on a friday or even monday, while some add an additional day leave to their workers annual leave, while come bastards will just smile and laugh at their workers, saying them "suckers!!"

So, goverment, if you are reading this, i got an wonderful idea that makes all working adults,(which are eligible to vote, and knowing every vote counts) super duper happy that they will swing their votes to you.

it goes like this...

Campaigning will end on a sunday.

Monday - cooling off day. People needs to sit down and think about it. they need peace and quiet to seriously think who to vote. So, make it a public holiday.

Tuesday - Polling day! needless to say, it's a public holiday.

Wednesday - Results day. Announcement of results, which all singaporeans would eagerly be waiting. so, make it a public holiday.

Thursday - sure some ppl will kao pei about the results, appealing results and want to recount the votes. And being Singapore, are very concerned about other beings (Read: KAYPO) all will eagerly wait for results also. Make it a public holiday.

Friday - The winning side will address to the nation, and make the various MPs go to the stage to thank his supporters, his family, his dog, his maid etc etc, and make it a celebration. make that day a public holiday too for celebrations.

There you go... I don't know about the others, but this kinda arrangement will definity make me a very happy man, and a very happy voter.

Oh yah, on a last note, can make the same kind of arrangement / timings for the presidential elections at the end of this year??

lastly, this post is meant to be a joke personnally. And yah, i am that bo liao.

Been a super long time since i last blogged.

With the advert of the more popular social website, like facebook, twitter, and god knows what shit out there, including blogspot for some small entrepeuner businesses, food, gadget reviews, personnal blogs and older social websites are gradually fading to cease.

Website like friendster (how many of you actually go and login back to your friendster account?) programs like MSN, ICQ (sounds familiar rite?) and perhaps the once notorious IRC chat, where it's mostly use for flirting. they are dying.

Due to facebook, my blog is being affected. Also due to the fact that i am getting more busy at work to cook up stories to entertain you readers out there.

So, is this blog going to die??

Gold medal for Singapore?

Hmmm... YOG is over... No more giving way to buses with flashing strobe lights...

But then, i can't seem to sense the disappointment that Singapore did not even get a gold medal for the YOG.

I am sure our people had tried their best, and they got the silver medals to prove it. Even to those who did not get a medal, being able to represent Singapore is no simple feat. Unlike me, where i would prob do Singapore proud by counting the hours i spend on my bed.

Anyway, well done!

But still, maybe it's time for the Sports Council and the YOG committee to think about what they can do to ensure that Singapore gets a Gold medal in the next big thing?

Well, let this S.O get out of bed, putting on his thinking cap, to think of some events to ensure that Singapore gets a gold medal for the next big thing.

1) Queuing Competition.
Singaporeans are proven to be the world expert at this. Especially the prize at the end is not a medal but a hello kitty, a BTO flat (competitors have to pay for the flat), or even perhaps a PC show with lots freebies. Even at places with super nice food. But please, do not take any reference from Brad's blog hor.

2) Archery.
I know there's archery event at the YOG, but with a little twist to the rules. The target is not the circular blue, yellow or red colour, but with humans. Singaporeans are very adept to shooting arrows, with great precision and aim, and sometimes, without aim that goes straight throught the heart of the people that does not dodge fast enough.

Yes. the competitors does not use the bow to fire off the arrow in this sport, but rather, their mouths.

3) Complaining competition.
Any Singaporean should know that we are unbeatable at this. Especially the 2 sisters who got banned from NTUC Fairprice Supermarkets. They are the world champions at this, hands down, by far. No fight. No contest.

4) Vagular language competition
Can hold a competition to see who knows the most vagular language. i believe Singaporeans knows the most, be it hokkien, cantonese, chinese, malay, tamil, Koeran, Japanese, and some even french, german, italian. There's even sign languages that everone knows.

5)Choping seats in hawker centers.
Yeah... One of Singaporeans favourite past-time hobbies. We are so good at that, even using the least expensive stuffs, (read "tissue paper") to chop. And it's quite effective, apparently.

Wow... Does wonders ever cease? In such a short span of brain activites, so much ideas can come in.

So, perhaps, in the next international competition event, perhaps well, there's hope for a gold medal even more!

What happens if Flooding occurs at all the places mentioned, causing super jams? And Plan B doesn't work?

Fret not. Here's S.O's plan C for you!

In case of heavy floods, all the aquatics wouldn't have a problem. Swimming, water polo, even canoeing, sailing and rowing wouldn't have a problem. Diving might pose some danger, as the water level ain't that high. The only safe area for diving is Orchard Road. There, 4/26 of the problem solved.

All the running events, well, cause of the jams, the athletics, will compete with the games village as the starting point, and their respective stadiums as the ending point, along those non flooded roads, in time to receive their medals. Hopefully, singaporean drivers, seeing that running is actually faster than driving during jams, may ditch their vehicles and join them on a run, leading to a healthier lifestyle. You can even do running events at the gyms! 5/26 problems solved

Badminton, there are numeourous badminton courts in jurong/pioneer area in the housing estate. It's open air. No need worry about the winds.. It makes the game more unpredictable, and more exciting. 6/26 problem solved

Archery wise, well, your aim is to help singapore do crow population control by shooting them down. The one with the most number of dead crows wins. Same for shooting events. Another way with archery is go into any SAF camp, and you get the see lots people doing archery. You can try completing with them (the OCs, COs, CSMs, PS, RSMs) but be warned. They are deadly. 8/26 problem solved.

Basketball. Just like badminton. There's lots basketball courts open air style in the neighbourhood. Too many ppl playing? No problem. Just Play ABC or "Man jiang hong" will do. 9/26 problem solved.

Boxing... hmmm.. This one a bit tricky. But then hor, Just go to Jurong Point, loiter around. The moment someone says "Diao Simi" or "Kua Simi", that's the signal to start the match. Your opponent is the one who says the "Diao Simi" or "Kua Simi" and his associates. You aim is to KO him and run away before the police arrives. Shortest time to KO him is the winner.

Same goes to Taekwondo, Judo and Wrestling. There's half your problem is solved.

Next sport. Cycling. Too bad NTU is far from Tampines. However, you can go the SAFRA gym at jurong to use their stationary bikes. Still cycling mah.. Only thing is that you get to enjoy the air con and you gets tired of seeing the same thing. 14/26 problem solved.

Fencing. Hmmm... SAFTIMI is round the corner. You can go there for a match with the soon-to-be commissioned officers with their swords. 15/26 problem solved.

Football. Change to street soccer lah. Anywhere also can play. Basketball courts, top of the multi storey carparks, and even void decks. IF you want the actual pitch, well, get lots people to form the pitch for you. (remember the world cup pepsi ad?) Remember to prepare cash for you to win, as the goal post opening can change. Highest cash wins. 16/26 proplem solved.

Gymnastics. As mentioned, SAFTIMI and PLC is round the corner. Lots of chin up bars, the bars at SOC for you to play with. Including the high Obs playground. Can play will you get tired of the sport. Not enough? still got Jurong Camp and Jurong Camp II. 17/26 problem solved.

Handball. Advised to you all. Stick to your legs in contact with the ball, instead of the hand. More recognised, more money to be earned. Watch world cup. Who doesn't know world cup? And how much money is being betted during world cup? So, drop the sport and take up soccer instead. 18/26 gone.

Hockey. Same as soccer. Can be played anywhere. Especially void decks. The piller adds to the excitment. 19/26 bye byed.

Modern Pentathlon. 5 sports in one. Fencing, swimming, running, shooting. You start off with running to the OCS to have a fencing match with the officers and their swords, then do crowd control duties at jurong area, then run to a flooded place and swim. 20/26 done.

Table tennis. Comeon... Don't tell me you don't know how to find tables, bring them together to become a table tennis table? just add a small net in the middle. Lecturer's room in NTU are a good place to start searching for tables. 21/26 done

Tennis. Just change the sport to table tennis or badminton. Done. 22/26

Triathlon. Simple. Swim out of the flood to the gym, cycle there, and run at the gym too. 23/26 solved.

Weight lifting. Your help is need to life the vehicles damaged by the flood out of harms's way. The one who lift the most number of cars wins. 24/26 done.

Volleyball. Same lah... can play anywhere... Just get 2 fellows to hold the net with 2 poles. 25/26 solved.

Equestrian. Horsing riding... Just pray that the horse can swim. Well.

There, all the solutions for the 26 sports if there's super massive flood and jam in singapore during YOG.

YOG. Youth Olympic Games. This event is coming to Singapore, but it's definity giving the Singapore motorist community some headaches.

Hmmm... Olympic games leh.. sports leh... why is it giving the motorist headache?? one may ask.

Yep. During the duration of the games, piority is given to the games athletes and officals, to the extend whereby a lane is reserved for them. On the second left most lane of most of the expressways.

They vehicles will have the YOG logo, and will blinker lights, dunno what colour, and the expressways will have the olympic logo with the words, "GIVE WAY".

And one sentence in that statement caught my eye...

"We are confident that Singaporean motorists being familiar with giving way to emergency vehicles will adopt the Give Way approach when they see Youth Olympic vehicles. This approach means lanes are freed up for motorists' use when there are no Youth Olympic vehicles on that stretch of road," said Mr Lim Bok Ngam, Acting Chief Executive, Land Transport Authority.

Bullshit. Singaporean motorists being familiar with giving way to emergency vehicles?? what kind of bullshit is this? Maybe he's referring to Traffic Police or SCDF ambulances, but i don't think he knows the situation with the private ambulances. Hell, i even witness motorist who never give way to SCDF ambulances who was blasting sirens all the way!!

What a load of crap.

And the penalty for not giving way to the YOG vehicles?

$130 fine.

So, motorist, remember to give way to YOG vehicles hor. Unless you got too much cash to spare... if you really got some spare cash, remember, my pocket is always open for you... No point giving the goverment more money above the road taxes and ERP. I definity got more use of the money than those.

I know i been too lazy to update, (more like sleepy and tired).

Past 11 days, been to 2 days which last 8 days and 6 nights... That's why tired.

Anyway, that's not the aim of this post. This post is about what happened this morning in the whole bloody part of Singapore.

This morning, it rained. Heavily. Super heavily. Super duper heavily. And singapore flooded. Nah, not the whole of singapore, but more on the central singapore, like Orchard Road, Bukit Timah Road.

And i was one of the suay driver that got caught in the flood at bukit timah. The huge canal was almost to the brink, and the flow rate of the water in the canel can allow white water rafting to be done in the cancal.

It's that bad.

And the whole road was flooded, only one lane passable, as the water level ain't that high.

Yep. My car is flood proof. Proven this morning.

I never regretted never listening to my friend to adjust the cold air intake to the bumper, otherwise, my ride would die of dihydrogen oxide poisoning.

And i heard that Orchard Road was flooded very badly... prob the only way of transportation is by this...

Who says dragonboating is not good?

But i am wondering if that dragonboat got an IU unit with a cashcard inserted.

Or did the rain cause any short circuit to the ERP system?

All i know is since i was small, my parents has been telling me this...

You do it, you own up, and you accept any punishments that come your way.

Since i was small, i heard the story of George Washington, who chopped down his father's tree and when his father ask for the culprit, he owned up.

But to my greatest disappointment and dismay, one highly educated fellow chose to run back to his country, after an incident.

Well, if you never do it, what are you scared of? If you did it, then, own up like a man, unless, of course, you don't have anything swinging between your legs.

And for a highly educated person like you, a PhD holder, holding an important post in your goverment, you chose to scamble off at the slightest trouble, is this what your country folks always do at the slight of trouble? Pardon my ignorance, for i must confess (owned up) that i have never been to your country.

And stop your bullshitting about "set up". You accuse us of setting you up, where's the evidence? As a PhD holder, clearly you should know that any claims must be supported by evidence. No evidence, no case.

Haiz~~ (shake head)... reading on the progress of this incident, i do pity you. I wondered which university you went to, which university you got your PhD from, what you know about the definations of the word called "responsibilities" and what creditials you got to secure such an important post in your goverment, only to end up showing your true colours in this incident.

2010 is here... well, according to my computer time, it's 4 more minutes.

Ironic.. I have not been touching my blog for so long, and here, i am spending the final minutes of 2009 to update my blog.

I got too much free time right now... the stupid mafia wars in facebook need 4.5 minutes just to get a miserable 2 energy and 1 stamina points... The SMS msgs i been trying to sent out just couldn't seems to get out from my mobile to my friend's mobile.

Singtel, starhub and M1 mobile operators must be earning big bucks right now by providing SMS service...

Lucky, there's no internet jam problem...

It's 12 midnight... Right now, i can hear screamings from all around me, shouting "Happy new year!!!", ppl playing sparklers, followed almost immediately with sounds of baby cries. Apparently, the screamings woke up the babies... hahaha...

Tuesday nightly affair

Just received some good news yesterday with regards to myself... Hahaha.. But that good news come with some bad news, i reckon...

And did something shitty today, something which i wish i could never do, yet, i feel it's necessary to do... And hope that shitty thing would not turn to be something more shitty that needs me to clear.

It's an extremely busy week for me... more so from the past few week, which i was busy enough. Why?? boss come back from overseas trip... hahaha

And every Tuesday, it's becoming a normal routine for the 4 of us... CN, HT, TB and me... A night of driving, which requires super intense concentration, with a super high risk of getting invloved in RTA, and it involves some jam, followed by some cheap buys and a night of relaxation, eating, chatting, singing, and perhaps, some "come find trouble" on the forehead...

It's the relaxation and the food that draws the 4 of us to go back there every week. A intense day of slogging out either physically, mentally or both at work, we really need a night of relaxation. I keep looking forward to Tue day, even it means sometimes, i am going to miss my myth buster show.

And Tue has just past. Am looking forward to next Tue.

It's funny, i know...

My world has turn upside down...

But couldn't be help... Is there anything that i can do to resolve this problem??

It's something like this statement... "How come a kid who is afraid of the dark grows up to be a teenager who hangs out every whole night?"

Yep...

Night is the time when cockroaches come out and people sleep. Morning is the time when ppl rushes to work and ERP starts.

But i am feeling very sleepy in the day!! Especially when i am in the office. And after work, while driving home, i will be yawning non stop, wishing for my dear warm bed to lie in and my soft pillow to cuddle with.

But once i reach home, all signs and syndromes of sleepiness went "poof!!!" just like when a naughty kid burst a balloon with a needle.

I became wide awake. No more thoughts of my warm bed and my soft super cuddle-friendly pillow. my thoughts turn to TV, Internet and mafia wars, and more recently, BF2.

And all those thoughts will keep my mind occupied till my eyelids cannot take it anymore... that's when i will faint.

And the cycle starts again when i woke up the next day.

Funny weather nowadays... Bukit timah have not been flooding for a super duper long time. And yet, recently it became a swimming pool. And i think the basement carpark can be a scuba diving training center.

Singapore cars might need another feature or insurance... Flood proof. Or perhaps a miniature submarine.

You know, in Singapore, on the mediacorp TV, there's this saying on channel 5, "MUST SEE TUESDAY".

Indeed, it's a must see tuesday. But it's not channel 5. Certainly the new Phua Chu Kang "migrating" to KL nor first class ain't interest me at all. Certainly it's ain't channel 5 either.

It's the new channel in Singapore TV free-to-air. OKTO channel. Tuesdays is a must see for me.

Especially one programme.

Oh yeah... mythbusters. They gather all kinds of myth, mostly which i didn't even heard before, subject it to scientific experiments on real life, and see if the myths is confirmed or busted.

And there's even more on the internet "youtube".

I recalled a myth which my parents told me when i was a kid.

"Elephants are scared of mice" they told me. "Bullshit" i thought. "How can such a huge animal be scared of a tiny thing??"

Anyway, it's been years and i didn't think of that myth, until yesterday.

Mythbusters put that myth under a experiment. and here's the video.

Come to think of the statement i had thought earlier "How can such a huge animal be scared of a tiny thing??" It's ain't true. Nope.. It's totally not true.

I know scores of the most intelligent animal on earth, Human beings, being afraid of thiny animals like cockroachs, lizards, mice, and sometimes, even ants.

So, nothing wrong with elephants being afraid of mice.

If Singapore is to have a myth buster team, here's my top ten list of myths for them to test.

10) Lady and taxi drivers are a road hazard.

9) Singaporeans will queue up for anything as long as it's free.

8) When a winning lottery ticket is purchase from a particular betting center, there's high chance that the betting center will produce more winning tickets.

7) Employees work at a better efficient rate when their boss are not around in office.

Well, the only explaination i could think of is that morning, i wake up, go work, and ever since i took over 3 person's job, changing of office location, orders picking up, going meetings, doing deliveries, after knock off, is go home sleep, or go out, and when the computer's on, i been using the time for Mafia wars, especially with the new country " Moscow" just came out to conquer, there's simply no time to go to blogger.com and type all these nonsense...

Politics... the never ending war between singtel and starhub... And yet, i still dun really see the effectiveness of this war to us as consumers...

I think i shall still stick to my present life style of being not a football fan... It saves me a lot of trouble.

Another story....

Went in to Malaysia yesterday night in ZX's car, and guess what?? We only stopped for around an hour to eat, and his car was "bombed". 6 "bombs" on his rear, and about 6 more "bombs" on the roof of his car...

The best part?? His car just finished washing about 10 minutes before we stopped to eat.

Anyone got medication for birds on diahorria??

NDP 2009 Family day Part II

After the parade, comes the show.

By then, the skies turn dark. And it's time to make full use of one's imagination on lightings!!

For the show segment, there's lots animation on the giant screens which will really capture your attention, and hence, not much focus was on the performers or dancers.

THe animations was really eye catching. Poor performers... no one's gonna watch you all. :P

The pyrotechnics (fireworks) were great. Especially during the grand finale. The burst were so much that you would have thought you were in the middle of a intense battle, that would have break even the bravest soldier.

Only thing that bothers me about the fireworks is that, if you have realised it from the photos above, all are the same colour.

Errr... organiser, can add more colour into the pyrotechnics?? Especially at the grand finale??

Perhaps, during the preview and the actual day, there would be more variety.

well, judging from the amount of pyrotechnics, perhaps the SAF would consider using the fireworks for exercises... And during the fireworks period, there's so much camera flashes from the spectators, that if you are standing in front of them, in their direction, you would have thought you were under fire from a whole division of infantrymen, if the flashes were muzzle flash.

I wonder how's their photographs will turn out.

NDP 2009 family day

NDP.

National Day Parade.

A day which took almost a year to organise, involve thousands of people, SAF, school kids, working personnal, in fact, involves people from all walks of life, be it in marching contingents, dancing participants, ushers, marshallers, traffic control, crowd control, temperature screenings, and of course, the back stage crew, who put up all the props, the wiring, the audio, the lightings...

In fact, to me, the most work (physically) are actually the back stage crew, who put in so much effort, but got the least recognition, and the SAF personnal, who did lots back stage work, without any recognition.

All for the our nation's birthday celebration.

I went for the last CR (combine rehersal) and was impressed with all the displays.

All along, the only part that interest me during NDPs is only the Parade segment. And coming out of the Marina Bay are yesterday night, i was impressed. The show segment was impressive. In fact, the whole celebration was very nice, except for the marina bay wave part where a car and motorcycle was involved.

The pre parade display, with the 5 hosts

(mediacorp celebrities) was a bit dull, with not much spectators co-operation to heat up the event. Perhaps, the NE show with full of hyeractive screaming primary school kids will be more interesting to watch.

And personnally, i like the "terrorist incident" segement, the sea display. Too bad, there's ain't a air show segment only whereby the chinook chopper flew close to the bay area and the 2 AH64 Apacha Choppers.

The freefall was the same every year, but it never fails to bring out much screamings from the spectators. Imagine jumping out of a perfectly working aircraft. They got guts... (Salute them).

Next come the parade.

The same every year, with 2 exceptions. 3 F-16 bomb bursts with full afterburners.

And the firing of the 21 gun salute. It's done on the bay instead of hard solid ground.. Impressive.

And the parade wise, well, even thought it's the same every year, the smartness of the guard of honor contingents and all the other supporting contingents, the uniformed groups, other civilian contingents, the SAF and Police bands, all make the march past an interesting part to watch.

Imagine the hours they had put in trainings.

Thoughts from TV show

I am not really a fan of Korea drama shows, but sometimes, the TV programs on TV are so damm stupid that i have to resort to either 1) turn off the TV, 2) watch some shows that i am not a fan of... (read: Korea Shows)

RIght now, it's one of those times, when i am resort to watching Korea drama.

And the "meaning" of the shows struck me.

The scene is about a son who just started a small eatery business. And his father is worried about him, to the extend that he cannot sleep until his son comes back safety...

He wrote all his heart in a small diary, all his worries on his business, worries on if he will get any scalds and burns, as he is quite clumsiness, worries on him driving alone late at night back home. And the father also realised the fact that he's getting old and staying up late is affecting his health.

And then the son came back. The father only asked why he's back so late, and quietly stepped out of the house to help the son carry the stuffs back in.

The son response? The moment he saw his father's room lights are still on, commented that his father is giving him stress, by not sleeping.

When the father stepped out of the house to bring the stuffs in, all the son did was to throw a bit of temper, and getting the father back to bed.

From a TV viewer point of view, well, it's the generation gap of father and son.

It's nature that parents worry about their kids, what they do outside, how successful they will be, all the way from studies, to career, to relationship and setting up a family.

But to the kids, all those worries and concern will translate into stress for the kids. The higher the expectations, the higher the stress. A kid will not understand the amount of the worries of the parents on their child and similarily, a parent will not understand the stress level of their kids.

So, what is the best remedy for this kind of situation? I am sure all or most ppl out there will face this situation right now, or perhaps, in the future.

Think abuot it, folks... Be understanding to each other...

Ever had a sunday where you had no appointments, no plans, and absoluting nothing to do?

Just had one yesterday.

Just spend the whole day, lying down, sleeping and watching TV... Oh yes... indeed... Watching TV movies. A marathon. Movies marathon. 4, to be exact...

First is "Seabiscuit" which is a really inspirational show. One that can move ppl to tears.

Second is Jackie Chan's action movie, "Police Story III, Super Cop".

Actually, after watching the second movie, i felt like taking a nap, and out of habit, i channel surfed, and to my horror, the other channel was showing "Seoul Raider".

Decisions, decisions. Continue watching or nap??

And i hate making such decisions on such a decision-less day. Ended up deciding to watch till i sleep.

And i did not sleep. Finished watching the third movie, and the sun is getting ready to "extingiush" itself in the sea, i channel surf again, and "Finding Nemo" caught my eye.

So, i continue watching.

And after the movie end, another show captured my attention.

"Crimewatch".

So, yesterday, on such a lazy and totally unplanned day, a long which i had not enjoyed for a long long time, i spend a totally of 8.5 hours in front of the telly.

Almost the same as my working hours.

Somehow, my working hours seems much longer then yesterday.

Dear readers, if you happen to have a GPS device, using M*pKi*g as your GPS OS, becareful.

Don't be surprised that you will receive lots "letters" from the traffic police, if you use the routing system, and always miss the turnings.

Coz, in that software, all intersection are able to do U turns, while in reality, not all juctions can do U turns.

NIght Cycling

Last friday nite. 3 crazy guys got together to do some crazy stuffs. Something that i had never imagined myself doing. First time doing it somemore...

Night cycling. Whole night cycling.

Though the distance is not that great, (as compared to NTU round island cycling) from East Coast to Changi Village and back, it still seems a great distance to covered, especially for old ppl like me.

Especially when the 3 crazy guys (ZX, AB and me) did not have sufficient rest and was quite tired even before the cycling, and it's been ages since i last touch a bicycle.

Crazy, ain't it?

I wanna sleep.

But we still have to cycle back. The process of a long long journey... The Changi Airport perimeter fence area was the killer. A long long journey, with spiders to be seen...

Spotted by KT, and while the rest are taking a break,

we shot macro.

Basically, i was not in the mood to shoot. Super tired and sleepy, slowly made my way back to the finish line. My ass bore the blunt of the pain, the fats did nothing to cushion the seat.

Finally, FINISH LIAO!!!

It's so tiring that almost everyone wanna just lie down and sleep...

While AB looks like the bicycle seller... :p

So tired that someone can even sleep while sitting down...

And finally, a group photo after the whole tiring event, minue ZX, who went to shit. :P

Yep.

And i had learnt 4 lessons that night.

1) Changi beach is dominated by Malays at night.

2) JC students like to do stupid stuffs in the middle of the night.

3) When your ass is feeling pain from cycling, you might want to ease the pain by standing up on your bike, when you sit down again, it's gonna pain a lot more worse. When you are bua tahan, just get off the bike and push.

4) I managed to survive the night cycling after all.

And i was asking myself the same old questions that night...

WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHEN I CAN BE AT HOME SLEEPING COMFORTABLY?!?!?!?!

But i am a sense of satisfaction, knowing that i can survive the event, when i myself doubt my ability to cover the whole distance before the cycling started. At least, i know my fitness level had improved.

The daily reported that the incident occurred in a Singapore park where the couple met after work.

To make matters worse for the woman, her husband had sent a private investigator to spy on her after suspecting that she was being unfaithful.

The investigator said he had followed the woman and her boss to the park.

'On reaching the park, they did not alight from the car. Not long after, the car started to shake violently.

After the car was hit by the van, there was a loud scream from the woman whose mouth was covered with blood,' he said.

Nothing eventful, except for swine flu, which i will write in a seperate post sometime later...

Been going to work, go home, duties, IPT. Nothing much to write about also...

During last IPT, during the running session, the third round, i came back hyperventilating, and feeling giddy. PTI saw me and called the medic, and both ask if i am okie, want to fall out.

My reply was that i rest a bit till feeling better, then continue the run.

PTI response was that i should rest, since i was not feeling well.

My reply was that i know my own condition, and when during the run, i will know when to stop when i cannot take it.

Adding this last sentence which make everyone laugh... "Dun worry, i am only a corporal, not a warrent officer, so, wun die one."

Yep... to those who dun know what's the joke about, well, go read up last few weeks news.

Temasek Poly Regatta 2009

Just completed a 13 hour duty yesterday at Temasek Polytechnic.

Weather was darn hot, and i think we created a dramatic show to the freshmen. A very dramatic show indeed. And i think it's indeed an eye catcher for some, if not most of the freshmen.

I know there's so much things to write about recently in Singapore... The food poisoning cases from the indian rojak stall at geylang, that cause 2 deaths and a miscarriage, the other food poisoning case at the steamboat restaurant at Geylang (hmmm.... geylang again... it seems that geylang ain't that "clean").

Another incident of an accident involving a tour bus and a public bus, that results in 32 casualties... In fact, including that news, there are a total of 3 RTA involving buses, the other 2 being i pass by. The last one was this morning, when i was on my way to work.

Other ppl might be writing heaven and hell about these hot "topics", and i am going to be different. I heard too many rumors, gossips, "facts" all those bullshit that can make me sleep in a moment, that i ain't going to post it here.

So, something else... i am going to post some photos which i had taken for the past few weeks.

Okie... after my 2 weeks in camp, came out and straight went to a duty super early the next day. NTU bike rally. Round island 128km riding.

Nah... I ain't that fit... I was driving islandwide. Haha...

SINGAPORE: A sabotage attempt marred the Aviva Ironman Singapore triathlon on Sunday.

While the cycling leg of the race was going on, some metal tacks were scattered on the road near the Keppel Flyover.

One witness told Channel NewsAsia about 30 to 40 participants had their bike tyres punctured by the tacks and had to drop out of the triathlon as a result.

In response to media queries, event organiser Hi-Tri said it cleared up the metal tacks immediately after being told of the incident.

It said few competitors were affected as the incident occurred near the end of the bike race.

Race director Graeme Hannan said it was a deliberate sabotage attempt and it was a shame that such mischief-makers have marred an otherwise great race.

Will they be termed as "terrorist" in the sports world??

All i know is that those mischief makers prob got their inspiration from this...

Had an enjoyable time??

I did. Went out on a date... With 3 other guys.

Went OCC (Orchid Country Club) for a bowling session...

Yep... went on a date with those 3 buddies...

My hand gave up after only 2 sessions... It's indeed been a super long time since i went bowling...

After the bowling session, we went over to Macpherson seafood center located at guess??

Nope.. not at Macpherson, but at Sembawang for supper.

Why there? Coz i had suggested that we go for "see hum" (cockles) and stingray. But ended up they ran out of see hum and stingray. Ended up wacking some gong gong, fish and satay.

THe food is nice, and quite cheap. 40 bucks for 4 persons, excluding drinks. Reasonable.

Went over to fetch CS, and ended up at Changi Village to purchase drinks and headed down to Changi Beach.

Valentine's day thirds

The whole population in Singapore can be divided into threes.

And tomorrow is the day you can see the threes in the most contrast. Yes... Tomorrow is the Valentine's day, a day which i suspected was created by business to suck money from the couples, normally, guys are the victims.

And i had come out with a formula. A rule of thirds, that will present itself tomorrow. Yah.. the rule of thirds not only comes in photography, alright??

In the whole population, one thirds of that population are classified to be "unsuitable" to be in a relationship, being too young and too old. So, those who are paying senior citizen bus fares, or those still celebrating children's day, shoo... off you go.

The 2/3 that are deem "suitable" for relationships can be further divided into threes.

One third have no dates to go out on Valentine's day.

And two thirds of that one third who have no dates to go out with, are single and avaliable status. Desparate or not, they themselve know.

The rest, one third of that one third who have no dates to go out with, have a relationship, but coz of numerous reason, they are alone on that special day. Reasons are, partners overseas, parents curfew, or even perhaps, at home, doing homework, cannot go out coz parents dunno.

But to mention something special, a special portion, a third of those who are in a relationship, but yet stayed at home, will be scatching their heads, wondering how come their dates are not free, and yet, not working??

Those are, simple... their dates got a date with others or they are outside, trying to earn more money by selling flowers or bears bears or even, balloons.

That's the one third part.

For the 2 thirds that will be going out on that "money-grabbing-by-florist-and-restaurants" day, well, they will be outside pa-toring, and spending money.

Of that 2 thirds, one third of them are married, and yet, they still go pa-toring like macham first time dating like that, while trying not to quarrel on that day. And the best part is that they have the rest of 364 days to quarrel.

The other 2 third that goes out are unmarried. Of that, one third are first time spending Valentine's day, the other 2 third are V on V day. (Veterans on Valentine's day)

Of those first time spending together, one thirds of them are working adults. The other 2 thirds are school kids.

Of the school kids, 2 thirds of those kids lied to their parents that they got CCA or tution in schools, even sats, which the one third of kids no need to lie, coz, 1) their parents know about the relationship, 2) their parents just dun care.

Talking about the 2 thirds that are veterans on V day, one third are school kids, with the same percentage of lies and knowledge, un-careness of the relationships are the same as above.

The other 2 thirds are working adults which you will mostly see on tomorrow night. Of those 2 thirds, one third of them will not be going home. Where they will be going, will be up to their imagination.

THe 2 thirds will be going home, of that, 2 thirds of those, will be highly intensively "interrogated" by their friends and families.

The rest of will be spared the agony.

And there will be one person, on Valentine's eve night, who is too free from sore neck to think about such stupid things to post on his stupid blog.

And there will be 2 thirds of the whole population who will be thinking the same as me... "Valentine's day?? Just another day only".

Yah... that's my point after writing all those shit.

Car servicing rantings

Yah... am blogging now coz i got 2 and half hours to kill...

Yes... 2 and half hours... i can go watch movie, come out go for a coffee and still got time. But the only thing is that i am crippled... Cannot go anywhere. Lazy to walk, ezlink card no money and too ex to take cab.

Yep... by now you would have guess something.

My car is undergoing servicing. And i am struck at the servicing center right now, waiting for the whole process to finish. Thank god i can use the computers there, online, to do blogging, to chat with ppl on MSN.

Only thing is that the seats for the computer are darn uncomfortable... Hopefully, the boss of CM will read my post and do something about it...

Perhaps, a pool table also... perhaps a gym for those who want to work out... perhaps SCV, so that i would not be able to see the same old news all over again, perhaps a lan gaming center, perhaps some bed for those who wanted a shut-eye... perhaps...

Okie... i am thinking too much...

But won't it be better if all those things are in?? everyone will bring their rides to service at the service center, and enjoy the morning or afternoon out. They will be telling the staff there, "take your time hor... i am not in a rush. Let the other cars go first." :P

Shiok, if you come to think about it...

Initially, for me in person, it's good to hear both sides of the story. Anyway, there are 2 faces to a coin, and to make a fair judgement, it's always good to hear both sides.

And after hearing both sides, well, basically, i couldn't see who's in the right or wrong. Yes, its a shame that sometimes, you give up your seats to those who need it more, only to get a scolding or a scrowl back.

And i would regret giving up seat to them.

Yah. It did happened to me before.

But in this case, well, after reading both stories, i understood what's the whole problem is about, and was about to forget the matter when i started reading the comments.

I almost forgot about it, until someone on MSN reminded me about it. Yes... the night of the smoke indeed...

As i came back just now, it seems like i am in Genting. But the moment i stepped out of my car, i was greeted by the smell. All thoughts of Genting "woosh", vanished right before my very nose.

I was curious about the haze information, so, i called the hotline, and they only got updates till last 4pm. PSI was 31. I badly want to know the PSI readings now. Should be exceeding 100, i'm sure...

So later, as you walk about the streets, remember not to step on any ashes. Apart of blacking your shoes soles, and dirtying your pants, jeans, skirts, there's also the threat of you offending the deities up there, whom you will recive some sort of "punishments" of their choice.

If you do accidentally stepped on one, well, all you can do is apologised and pray, hoping that nothing befalls on you. Don't worry, people will not say you are "siao" for muttering to yourself, and will forgive you of black patches on your pants. They might not forgive you if you step into someone's house with your shoes on, however.

And if you are thinking of complaining about the burning, well, luner new year comes once in a year. I am sure you piss off more people in that year, so, well, just endure that night and life stills goes on. Okie?

And for those who are prone to asthma attacks by the smoke, well, just keep your windows close tight and on your fan and/or aircon.

Anyway, it's the perfect chance to see if the SCDF home protection kit you keep all along works or not. If you smell smoke, then, complain to the SCDF that their kit is not efficient.

Okie. I gotta sign off. The smoke is getting into me. I need to find my hazmat mask to put on.

Chingay Parade 2009, and city alive street party after that till 0300 hours.

Stayed at command post throughout the whole parade, going down only after the parade has ended for the street party.

At HQ during the dinner time.

Fire works. I din know that the small balcony at the city hall can hold so much pyro.

And soon, it's time for the noise generating street party.

Day 2 of Chinese New Year...

Went to HS house to wack their food and to wake their neighbours up...

I wack so much so that poor HS and YX has to cook some more!!

We spend our time watching the movie, "Die hard 4" which i think isn't appropriate for the Chinese New Year season, but it is sure appropriate to wake all his neighbours up.

Luckily, no police or even an egg came.

I think we should have turn up the volume all the way.

And when the movie ends, it's time to try our best to bring the police down. loi hei...

Chinese New Year 2009

Second day of the Chinese New Year...

So, how's your ang pow haul so far? Economy crisis ongoing, so, dun be angry or disappointed if you realised that your "booty" had shrunk.

Reunion dinner. To some people, it's really a yearly affair, whole family sitting down together, having a meal together. The society is now such a way that it's hard for the family to sit down together even for a meal.

This year, i had a reunion dinner. In 4 years, i did not have a reunion dinner with my family. They had their dinner without me around.

In fact, i had 2 "reunion dinners". One with friends from the SCS and the other with my family.

First dinner at Chong Pang 2-in-1 BBQ steamboat, over at Turf City.

Well, it was quite fun. They got a god of wealth to promoto beer there, and he drives a honda jazz. Haha... happened to see him drive in, change to the god of wealth costume.

Too bad, i was driving.. :P

And another reunion dinner at home...

And after the reunion dinner, it's time to work. Went to Chinatown for a duty... CNY countdown duty.

I guess, that inviting all your friends for your wedding dinner ain't good.

I guess, that inviting all your friends over to your house for housewarming party is worse.

Coz, during Chinese New Year, they will all come to your house for ang pows. And they know where you stay.

Chinese New Year eve

okie... I am not an expert on this thingy, but let me tell you all what singaporean people usually do for the chinese new year...

On the few days before the Chinese new year.

Spring cleaning. The whole house will be cleaned, from the top to the bottom, and sometimes, that include painting the walls and ceiling again. Well, that's what ppl say. new year, new beginning.

Sometimes, some richer fellows will change their furniture to brand new ones, including their electrical household items, entertainment system and sometimes, renovating the whole bleddy house!!

And they will go shopping, a favourite past time for Singaporeans, for new clothes, new year cookies, which they usually finished even before the chinese new year... The supermarkets, markets are on 24 hours for the day before the eve, and people will be rushing about buying food stuffs for the reunion dinner which is on the eve of the new year.

Banks will start issueing brand new notes for the new year.

Radios will play new year songs more often.

On the eve, normally is a half day work, if it falls on a weekday. But, normally, people will take the other half day off, be it legally or illegally. Parking is always a breeze for me on the eve at my office.

Eve night. Reunion dinner. Used to be where the family cooks and the whole family sits down together to have a meal together. To some busy singaporeans, that is the ONLY time when the whole family sits down to eat together. Once a year.

And after reunion dinner, the whole family will sit together to chit chat, and as the time comes closer to midnite, they will start preparing to pray to their forefathers, and once the clock strikes midnite, praying will start, to wish for a good year ahead.

The kids will stay awake the whole night, which will well, belief that by doing so, their parents will have good health for the year.

So, only the grandparents can sleep hor??

Guess will i be doing all of these today?? Given it's the eve?

I springcleaned. Nope, not my house nor room. My room is un-springcleanable. It's a total mess, total wreaked, which will cause instant migrain when any attempt to clean it up is thought.

I spring cleaned my car. Yesterday night. Took me about 3 hours to do it. Washed, waxed, vacuumed, remove any rubbish, window treated.

And i went to do past mid nite shopping. For new year goodies. I am trying my hardest to finish all the new year cookies that i had bought yesterday nite before the start of the year, inline with my personnal tradition.

But then hor,

I still don't have the CNY mood.

Second thought : Oh yah hor, RT finished liao... Heng ahhh....

Chinese New Year is coming. The year of the cow.
